SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted to £778.83 - many thanks.
Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month. Each month £4000 is repaid to the Diocese for the building loan and levy.

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £355.00 - many thanks.

BANKER'S ORDERS
Paying your collection by monthly or quarterly banker's order makes money handling much safer. Banker's Order forms are available in the porch.

FATHER JOHN MAENDELEO
Father John Maendeleo is back in Tanzania. His appointment to the Holy Ghost Mission in Turin, Italy has been delayed for several months because of visa problems. His Provincial Superior is unable to appoint him elsewhere until the matter is resolved so he has written to ask if Father John would be welcome here until he can move to Italy. I have agreed that he can stay here - his keep, his fare and so on will be met by the parish - our Mission contribution. If you can help by adding a little to your collection or standing order, I would be very grateful. Other parishes in the deanery have asked for Father John's help and will help offset the costs.

BLESSED SACRAMENT CHAPEL
According to all Liturgical norms, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel is in exactly the right place. However, it is very poorly decorated and we could do much better. I intend to make the necessary improvements during the next few months. I am open to suggestions. The Chapel needs to be bright, welcoming and decorated with symbols of the Holy Eucharist. Watch the space!

FUNDRAISERS
There is a suggestion for Fundraising Suppers for the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in the Presbytery. Numbers will be limited to twenty or so at a time, food will be themed and the tickets will be all inclusive. Are there any comments? A series of fundraising evenings in the Parish Centre will also be required, for example, bingo, race night, quiz night and so on, if we are to do justice to the project. Other ideas are welcome.

MEETING ROOM AND LIBRARY
The meeting room and the library are available to let for small, quiet meetings for parish or non-parish events. The meeting room can hold about 25 and the Library can take about 12. Tea making facilities are available. Enquiries should be made to Kate on 464063. Bookings for the Parish Centre and meeting rooms continue in the usual way.

SCOTTISH INTERNATIONAL RELIEF
Katrina (Brown) Pollock and Averill Cunningham will be running the Glasgow 10K on Sunday 3 September for Scottish International Relief. Sponsor Forms are available at the stall for those wishing to sponsor them.

ANNUAL GALLOWAY MUSIC FESTIVAL MASS
To celebrate the gift of music and bring musicians together to share and celebrate their ministry, a Mass will be held in the grounds of Smithstone House, Kilwinning at 2.30 pm on Sunday 20 August. All musicians and singers are invited to take part and everyone is welcome whether musical or not. For those wanting to join in the music, there will be a rehearsal from 1.00 pm. Bring your family and friends and a picnic for after. For further details, contact Michael McCulloch.

WHITHORN PILGRIMAGE
The Annual Pilgrimage to Saint Ninian's Cave on Whithorn shore takes place on Sunday 27 August. Mass is celebrated at 4.00pm. There is also Mass in the Church for those who cannot make the walk to the cave. This year, the liturgy is organised by our deanery and the sermon will be preached by Father Matt.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)
A group for those who are interested in knowing more about the Church and perhaps becoming Catholic at Easter will begin in the Presbytery at the beginning of September.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY TRAINING
All involved in taking Children's Liturgy are invited to a Training Day in Smithstone House, Kilwinning on Saturday 16 September from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. Further details and a list for names is available in the porch.

LOURDES GROUP
The Lourdes Group meets in the Parish Centre on Monday 21 August at 7.00 pm.

THANKS
Grateful thanks to Saint Clare for favours granted. DJ

A wise man should have money in his head but not in his heart.

I am a confirmed believer in blessings in disguise. I prefer them undisguised when I
myself happen to be the person blessed. In fact, I can scarcely recognise a blessing
in disguise except when it is bestowed upon someone else.                  Robert Lynd

READINGS
The readings for this weekend's Masses are shown below in English. They are available in eleven other languages
including French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish by clicking on this link.

First Reading           Proverbs 9:1-6
Wisdom has built herself a house, she has erected her seven pillars, she has slaughtered her beasts, prepared her wine, she has laid her table. She has despatched her maidservants and proclaimed from the city's heights: Who is ignorant? Let him step this way. To the fool she says, come and eat my bread, drink the wine I have prepared! Leave your folly and you will live, walk in the ways of perception.

Second Reading           Ephesians 5:15-20
Be very careful about the sort of lives you lead, like intelligent and not like senseless people. This may be a wicked age, but your lives should redeem it. And do not be thoughtless but recognise what is the will of the Lord. Do not drug yourselves with wine, this is simply dissipation; be filled with the Spirit. Sing the words and tunes of the psalms and hymns when you are together, and go on singing and chanting to the Lord in your hearts, so that always and everywhere you are giving thanks to God who is our Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gospel           John 6:51-58
Jesus said to the crowd: "I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world." Then the Jews started arguing with one another: "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"' they said. Jesus replied: "I tell you most solemnly, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you. Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood has eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me and I live in him. As I, who am sent by the living Father, myself draw life from the Father, so whoever eats me will draw life from me. This is the bread come down from heaven; not like the bread our ancestors ate: they are dead, but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.".
