THE MICHAEL LYNCH CENTRE FOR ENTERPRISE
Many thanks to Cunninghame Housing Association for naming their new Enterprise Centre after Father Lynch. I am sorry that, for the opening there was no invitation to the Parish, but I am sure we are honoured to have the Centre named after our former Parish Priest.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Parent volunteers are needed to help with the Children's Liturgy on Sunday mornings at 10.00 am Mass. If you would like to volunteer let Father Matt know or phone Kate on 464063. The more people who volunteer the fewer times your name will be on the rota.

WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THE CHURCH?
Perhaps you have been thinking about joining the Church, perhaps it has been talked about, perhaps now is the time to do something about it. A Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) course for the parishes in the Three Towns will take place fortnightly in Saint Brendan's Hall, Corrie Crescent, Saltcoats starting on Tuesday 12 September at 7.30 pm. It will be led by George Gallagher, Father Matt, Father Jim, Father Mark and Father Martin. If you are interested, please pick up an introductory pack from Father Matt or from the office. Booklets and so on will be supplied as the course continues. A Three Towns Baptismal Preparation Course of one session will be offered at Saint John's Hall, Stevenston and a Marriage Preparation Course will be offered in Ardrossan. Details will be given later.

THURSDAY CLUB
The Thursday Club, formed twenty-three years ago, has decided to meet on Tuesdays and will now be known as the Tuesday Club.
The name change was later rescinded and the title Thursday Club remains.

MUSIC MINISTRY
The Music Ministry will meet in the Parish Centre on Thursday at 7.30 pm.

GRATEFUL THANKS
Grateful thanks to Saint Clare for favours granted. D E and M C

TOTAL COMMITMENT
A chicken and a pig were out for a walk. The pig wasn't too bright, and tended to repeat the ideas of others. "They are very good people down in that farm-house" said the chicken. "They are, indeed;", agreed the pig, "they are very good people." They are very good to us." said the chicken. "Yes, indeed;" said the pig" they are very good to us." "Do you know what I was thinking?" said the chicken. "No." said the pig "What were you thinking?" "I was thinking we should do something for them." "A very good idea" said the pig"I think we should do something for them. What did you have in mind?" "I was thinking", said the chicken "that we should give them something." "A very good idea, said the pig, "I think we should give them something. What did you have in mind?" "I was thinking" said the chicken, "We should give them bacon and eggs." The pig stopped in his tracks."No way" he said. "For you that's only a little inconvenience, but for me it's a total commitment."

BEST WISHES TO PAULA AND ROSS FOR THEIR NEW LIFE IN AUSTRALIA.
LOVE FROM ALL THE FAMILY.

We are all here on earth to help others: what on earth the others are here for I don't know.

READINGS
The readings for this weekend's Masses are shown below in English. They are available in eleven other languages
including French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish by clicking on this link.

First Reading           Isaiah 50:5-9
The Lord has opened my ear. For my part, I made no resistance, neither did I turn away. I offered my back to those who struck me, my cheeks to those who tore at my beard; I did not cover my face against insult and spittle. The Lord comes to my help, so that I am untouched by the insults. So, too, I set my face like flint; I know I shall not be shamed. My vindicator is here at hand. Does anyone start proceedings against me? Then let us go to court together. Who thinks he has a case against me? Let him approach me. The Lord is coming to my help, who dare condemn me?

Second Reading           James 2:14-18
Take the case, my brothers, of someone who has never done a single good act but claims that he has faith. Will that faith save him? If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, and one of you says to them, "I wish you well; keep yourself warm and eat plenty", without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that? Faith is like that: if good works do not go with it, it is quite dead. This is the way to talk to people of that kind: "You say you have faith and I have good deeds; I will prove to you that I have faith by showing you my good deeds - now you prove to me that you have faith without any good deeds to show.".

Gospel           Mark 8:27-35
Jesus and his disciples left for the villages round Caesarea Philippi. On the way he put this question to his disciples, "Who do people say I am?" And they told him. "John the Baptist"' they said, "others Elijah; others again, one of the prophets." "But you," he asked, "who do you say I am?" Peter spoke up and said to him, "You are the Christ."' And he gave them strict orders not to tell anyone about him. And he began to teach them that the Son of Man was destined to suffer grievously, to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be put to death, and after three days to rise again; and he said all this quite openly. Then, taking him aside, Peter started to remonstrate with him. But, turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said to him, "Get behind me, Satan! Because the way you think is not God's way but man's." He called the people and his disciples to him and said, "If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it.".
