SAINT
MICHAEL'S MAGAZINES - NOW ON COMPACT DISC
A CD has been produced to celebrate
the success of the staff and pupils of Saint Michael's College, Irvine and Saint
Michael's Academy, Kilwinning from 1921 to 2007. It contains all twelve school
magazines produced from 1957 to 1990. Copies cost £5 each and all profits
will be divided between Father Martin Chambers' Mission in Ecuador and the Scottish
Catholic International Aid Fund. Please order your copy from John Walsh.
SAINT
PETER'S WEBSITE - OLD BULLETINS
Last month's appeal for old bulletins was successful
with only three years now missing from bulletins between 1960 and 2006 on Saint
Peter's website. The website author is grateful to the donors. It would be good
to include the missing years. If you have an old bulletin, perhaps kept as a souvenir
of a family event, it could be used to 'fill the gaps'. If you can lend a bulletin
issued in 1996, 1999 or 2001, please contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterInChains.net.
Bulletins will be returned promptly.

GALLOWAY
NEWSLETTER
The Advent 2006 edition of the Galloway Newsletter is available
at the stall.
Nothing can make up for the absence
of someone we love and it would be wrong to try to find a substitute - we must
simply hold out and see it through. That sounds very hard at first, but at the
same time it is a great consolation for the gap, as long as it remains unfilled,
preserves the bond between us. It is nonsense to say that God fills the gap -
God doesn't fill it but on the contrary, keeps it empty and so help us to keep
alive our former communion with each other, even at the cost of pain.
An
elderly couple went into a fast food restaurant and ordered one meal and an extra
plate and cup. A young man watched, fascinated as the man carefully cut the burger
in half and divided the chips and then poured half the coke into the spare cup
and began to eat. The young man offered to buy them a meal so they could have
once each, but the old gentleman said, "No thank you. We've been married
for fifty years and everything has always been fifty-fifty." So the young
man said to the woman "Well, why are you not eating yet?" "Well"
she said, "it's his turn for the teeth.".
We
make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give. |
READINGS
The readings for this weekend's Masses are shown below in English. They are available
in eleven other languages
including French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish by clicking on this
link.
First
Reading
Daniel
7:13-14
I
gazed into the visions of the night. And I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven,
one like a son of man. He came to the one of great age and was led into his presence.
On him was conferred sovereignty, glory and kingship, and men of all peoples,
nations and languages became his servants. His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty
which shall never pass away, nor will his empire ever be destroyed.
Second
Reading
Apocalypse
1:5-8
Jesus
Christ is the faithful witness, the First-born from the dead, the Ruler of the
kings of the earth. He loves us and has washed away our sins with his blood, and
made us a line of kings, priests to serve his God and Father; to him, then, be
glory and power for ever and ever. Amen. It is he who is coming on the clouds;
everyone will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the races of the earth
will mourn over him. This is the truth. Amen. 'I am the Alpha and the Omega' says
the Lord God, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
Gospel
John
18:33-37
"Are you the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked. Jesus replied,
"Do you ask this of your own accord, or have others spoken to you about me?"
Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? It is your own people and the chief priests
who have handed you over to me: what have you done?" Jesus replied, "Mine
is not a kingdom of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my men would
have fought to prevent my being surrendered to the Jews. But my kingdom is not
of this kind." "So you are a king then?" said Pilate. "It
is you who say it" answered Jesus. "Yes, I am a king. I was born for
this, I came into the world for this: to bear witness to the truth; and all who
are on the side of truth listen to my voice.".
