SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted
to £795.40. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish. Banker's
Orders amount to an average of £4400 per month.
BANKER'S
ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists
us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay
tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would
you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £332.43 - many
thanks.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Elsie Brodie Vigil, Angela
Body 10.00 am and Jim Delahunt 12.00 noon.
PARISH BARBECUE AND AFTERNOON
TEA
The Parish Barbecue is an opportunity to meet, chat, catch up with old
friends and make new friends. It will be held in the fenced area beside the Nursery
from 2.30 pm to about 5.00 pm. Bring friends - and a chair if your have one! There
will be a burgers, soft drinks, tea, coffee, scones and a raffle.
PARISH
OFFICE
The Parish Office is normally staffed each weekday from 9.00 am to 1.00
pm. Outside of these times, there may be someone there or you can leave a message
on 464063.
MASS LEAFLETS
Mass Leaflets are our way of providing you
with the Sunday Readings and the music for Mass. You are welcome to take one home
or to the housebound. If you are not doing so, we would be grateful if you would
return the Mass leaflets to the boxes for use at a later Mass. Please try not
to leave bulletins and leaflets on the seat. It makes you and the Church look
untidy. Thanks.
SUMMER
HOLIDAY
During July and August we are unable to get as much help with the Sunday
Mass as we are used to. We will try to ensure the singing, the serving, the Readings
and the Eucharistic assistance is as usual but please bear with us during the
holiday period. The Parish Centre is having some new flooring laid and there is
some maintenance work going on. The Children's Liturgy will resume in August.
Visitors are most welcome among us. We hope the weather is good for you. Unless
otherwise specified, the second collection each weekend is to reduce the debt
on the Parish Centre.
PARISH
VOLUNTEERS
Bishop Cunningham will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving for all
the hard work and dedication given to the Church by all volunteers in parishes.
The Mass
will be celebrated in Saint Margaret's Cathedral, Ayr on Sunday 14 September at
3.30 pm. A good attendance would be greatly appreciated as this is the first time
a Mass of thanksgiving has been held. Notices for numbers will be displayed in
August to ascertain whether a bus should be ordered.
THREE
TOWNS CHURCHES CRUISE
Saint Peter's Parish was well represented on the Three
Towns Churches cruise on the Waverley las Wednesday evening. It was splendid outing.
The weather was dry but not very bright. 670 joined the outing in aid of the Vine
Trust and £4700 was raised for chariity. Many thanks to Stuart McMahon of
Barony Saint John's Church for organising the event. Let's hope for a repeat next
year.
ANNUAL
GALLOWAY MUSIC FESTIVAL MASS
The annual Galloway Music Festival Mass celebrating
the gift of music and bringing musicians together to share and celebrate their
ministry, is being held in the grounds of Smithstone House, Kilwinning on Sunday
17 August at 2.30 pm. All musicians and singers are invited to take part and everyone
is welcome to attend. For those wanting to join in leading the music, there will
be a rehearsal from 1.00 pm. Bring your family and friends and a picnic for after.

HCPT
- THE PILGRIMAGE TRUST
The HCPT Group thanks you for your support for the recent
sponsored cycle run. £2280 was raised and this will help to fund four local
children to travel to Lourdes at Easter 2009. We hope to be able to fund double
that number of children.
MARY'S
MEALS - PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?
Mary's
Meals works with some of the poorest people
in the third world countries such as Malawi, Liberia, Peru, Ecuador, India and
Uganda, amongst others. Mary's
Meals offers
help by collecting unwanted goods. They then send the goods donated as aid or
raise funds through shops for overseas projects. The
annual uplift visit will be on Sunday 7 September. From Thursday 4 to Saturday
6 September, your donations can be left in the foyer of the Parish Centre but
not at other times as we need to use the Centre and the foyer. If you are unable
to bring your own goods, please contact Frank Coulter. Mary's
Meals will
also sell raffle tickets. Photographs of recent years' visits by Scottish
International Relief are on the Pictures
page.

PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in
Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each
individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the
welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with the Church
and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility
of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together
to prevent the physical,
sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
