SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted to £725.85. We are grateful for your
generous support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4400
per month.
BANKER'S
ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists
us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay
tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would
you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £383.98 - many
thanks.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Celia Andrew at 5.30 pm,
Sarah Guthrie at 10.00 am and Harry Sammons and Marade Griffin at 12.00 noon.
PARISH OFFICE
The Parish Office is normally staffed each weekday from
9.00 am to 1.00 pm. Outside of these times, there may be someone there or you
can leave a message on 464063.
MASS LEAFLETS
Mass Leaflets are our way
of providing you with the Sunday Readings and the music for Mass. You are welcome
to take one home or to the housebound. If you are not doing so, we would be grateful
if you would return the Mass leaflets to the boxes for use at a later Mass. Please
try not to leave bulletins and leaflets on the seat. It makes you and the Church
look untidy. Thanks.
PARISH
VOLUNTEERS MASS CANCELLED
Bishop Cunningham has had to cancel the parish Volunteers'
Mass
in Saint Margaret's Cathedral, Ayr on 14 September. A Sunday afternoon has proved
to be difficult for most people.
MARY'S
MEALS
Thanks to all who contributed to Mary's
Meals through the raffle which raised £1013.19 and the rags-to-riches
collection of 750 bags. They are grateful for all your efforts and appreciate
the kindness of those who gave so generously. Photographs
of this and recent years' visits by Scottish
International Relief are on the Pictures
page.
CHILDREN'S
LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy has resumed for three to five year olds and
Primary 1 to Primary 3 pupils today. The Children's Sacramental Programme has
begun and their Sunday Liturgy will start on the first Sunday of October. If your
children attend the Liturgy at any stage would you consider helping the children?
Due to children and parents moving up groups, we are in need of volunteers to
help with the Children's Liturgy. If you are interested, please add your name
to the list on the notice board at the back of the Church or contact the Parish
Office on 464063 with your details for gaining disclosure.
SAINT
ANNE'S GUILD
Saint
Anne's Guild has restarted and new members are welcome. The Guild meets
in the Parish Centre on Tuesday evenings at 7.00 pm.
HEALTH
AND SAFETY
We are continuing with Health and Safety improvements. There
is now a five mile per hour speed limit within the Church Grounds. Please be especially
careful when services are about to begin or end and when delivering children to
the Nursery. New first aid equipment is now available at the stall and in the
Parish Centre. The gate to the children’s play area will normally be locked, especially
on a Sunday morning, when not in use. During the Sunday teas, unsupervised children
are continuing to cause damage and throw rubbish from the bins into the play area.
Each Monday morning, the Nursery staff are faced with a necessary clean-up before
the area can be used. Finally we are looking for a few members of a Health and
Safety committee. Please phone the Parish Office if you are interested.
THANKS
Jean
and Bert White thank their friends in Saint Peter's Parish for their gifts of
cards, flowers and very generous donations to the Youth for Lourdes Fund - £500
to date - on the occasion of their Golden Wedding.
FATHER'S SONG
You
are invited to an evening of Uplifting Praise and Witness with Father's Song on
Friday 19 September at 7.30 pm in Saint
John's Church, Stevenston. A warm welcome is extended to all.
BINGO
Tickets
are now on sale for a night of Bingo on Friday 26 September at 7.30 pm. Tickets
cost £2.50 and include a cup of tea and a glass of wine. All proceeds will
go to the Children's Centre. Tickets are available from the nursery or at the
door.
PARKING
Could
we ask that all car owners take care to park within the white lines of the parking
bays to ensure full use of all the spaces? A lot of effort is put in every week
to keep up the appearance of the Church grounds. Could we please ask that you
do not park on the grass. Thank you.
CANON
MATT HOLIDAY
Canon Matt
is on holiday from 8 to 25 September.
Father Hayes (463461) and Father Polland (463225) will take emergency calls
and deal with funerals. During Canon
Matt's holiday, Mass will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays at 10.00 am by Father
Gabriel. There will be no Mass on Tuesday morning, Thursday
evening or Saturday morning. Masses at the weekend will be as usual.
Canon Quinlan will say the Saturday evening Mass and Father Kinsler will say
the Sunday Masses. During his holiday, Canon
Matt will offer Mass for the intentions you have requested including
Annie McCormick, Harry Currie, Rena McNairney, Michael McDermot, Jimmy
Mulhearn, Mrs A Gibbons, Desmond McGarvey, Kenneth McLeod, Michael
Pollock and Jim McLaughlin. If you asked for a special day, your request
will be honoured as far as possible. While he is away, Canon
Matt will baptise the four youngest members of his extended family.
IGNATIAN
PRAYER GROUPS
The Ignatian Prayer Groups meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30
pm, the second Tuesday at 7.30 pm and every last Tuesday at 2.00 pm.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community,
we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed,
paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical,
sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable
adults.
