COLLECTION
The Christmas collection amounted to £1456.23 - thanks very much.
SUNDAY COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection amounted to £699.17. We are grateful for your
generous support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000
per month.
BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1
you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering
Saint Peter's in your will?

BURNS SUPPER
The Burns
Supper will be held in the Parish Centre on Friday 13 February 2009. Tickets
are on sale at the Parish Office. Ex-Provost Drew Duncan OBE will propose
The Immortal Memory, Kenny Gibson MSP will propose the Toast to the Lassies
and the reply will be given by Reverend Dorothy Granger of Barony Saint John's

CONGRATULATIONS
We offer our congratulations to Jim
Donnelly who received a Papal Blessing from Pope Benedict XVI marking
sixty years service to Saint Peter's as a choir member and cantor. The Papal
Blessing was presented to Jim
at the end of the 8.30 pm Christmas Mass. We also congratulate Matt and Moira
Donnelly and Maria and George Hilferty on the occasion of their Golden Weddings.
Matt and Moira's wedding was on Boxing Day while George and Maria were married
on 11 January.
THANKS
We give special thanks to Evelyne and Alfie for the beautiful flower arrangements
in the Church; to our servers for their happy and willing assistance during
Christmas and throughout the year; to the Readers and Eucharistic Ministers
for their ministries in Church and to the housebound; to the musicians, cantors
and choir members for their ministry; to the Children's Liturgy leaders and
helpers; to the Sunday morning tea, coffee and cake providers for their cheerful
service and to so many other who help in so many ways. Our parish is blessed
in having such an army of volunteers. May God bless all of you in the new
year.
SUGGESTION LEAFLET
There is a leaflet coming soon which indicates the events we will try to organise
and have room for suggestions. The Parish Centre is well used for private
functions but there are few Parish functions and we need to remedy that if
we are to make the Centre viable. You support it well with the second collection,
so how about using it a bit more? We need the support.
LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary meets in the Parish Centre on Tuesday mornings at 11.00
am. If you have time for prayer and to visit the sick and housebound then
the Legion would like to welcome you as a member. What about coming along
to the meeting and observing? You will be very welcome.
SAINT
VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society
meets in the Parish Centre on Monday evenings at 7.00 pm. New members - men
and women - are always welcome. The Society exists for the sanctification
of its members and for the relief of the poor, assisting where there is need.
You would be welcome at a meeting so that you can get an idea of the prayer
and work of the Society.
FATHER MOTRONI
TALKS
On Mondays 12, 19 and 26 January 2009, Father
Stephen Motroni will give talks on Saint Paul in Saint Mary's Church Hall
in Irvine from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. All are welcome as are donations to support
Smithstone House Sacred Heart Fathers in Kilwinning.
CHILDREN'S
LITURGY
A new Children's Liturgy rota has been sent to all helpers. Please remember
to arrange cover if you are unable to attend. Please note that only volunteers
with Disclosure from Saint Peter's are allowed to assist with the Children's
Liturgy. Parents and grandparents are invited to bring the children but you
cannot remain when other children are present if you have not filled in a
Disclosure form. Sorry - we have to follow the regulations.

be away from Monday 12 till Friday 16 January. Father
Gabriel will offer the morning Masses but there will be
no Mass on the evening of Thursday 15. The Parish Office will be staffed as
usual.
WORK
ON THE CHURCH
We are still struggling to pay for the new carpet and we may need to replace
the front doors of the Church. The two sets of side doors were replaced by
insurance claims after storm damage but the main doors are warped by the weather
and no longer fit for purpose. It may be possible to refurbish rather than
replace the doors. The Church is a Grade A listed building so work on the
doors will have to be specialised and we will have to take account of the
rain and wind the doors are subjected to. I will try to get a price and then
get back to you. The Church is worthy of its new carpet and the same goes
for the doors. Watch this space. The envelopes were a great help in paying
for the carpet but we have gone as far as we can with them now. You can still
make a donation and if you pay tax and put your name and address on an envelope,
we get Gift Aid on the donation. Thanks to all those who contributed to the
current total of £5585.76.
