OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection
amounted to £690.65. We are grateful for your generous support of the Parish.
Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per month.
BANKER'S
ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists
us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay
tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Would
you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
PARISH
CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted
to £319.58 - many thanks.
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Katrina Pollock at 5.30 pm, Annie Watt at 10.00 am and Ronnie

FUNERAL
CATERING
The Parish Centre is available for hire for funeral catering. Maria
of the Cheery Cup, Glasgow Street, Ardrossan (469588) and Carol Ann of O'Really’s,
Princes Street, Ardrossan (604333) can be available to cater. We cannot provide
a drinks licence and we require enough time to cancel the use of the Centre by
the Mother and Toddlers Group. Booking of the centre is via Fiona on 606424. Book
the caterers is by direct contact. Arrangements for providing a drink can be made
with the caterers but the bar is not available.
PEREGRINATIO PRO
CHRISTO - JOURNEYING FOR CHRIST
The Legion of Mary is proposing a week’s visit
of a team of Legion members to the Parish from 4 to 11 July. The team - all of
them from Ireland - will work and pray with local members of the Legion in our
Parish - visiting homes, meeting with people, gathering for Mass, meals and so
on. We need some help. The team will consist of a priest and ten lay members.
They are expected to pay their own way with regard to bed and breakfast accommodation
but hospitality has been ofered by parishioners - many thanks. I can accommodate
the priest. The team requires lunch and an evening meal in the Parish Centre.
I need some groups - for example, a group of friends - who would provide a meal
each evening for the Legion team. Some days are covered and this is the last chance
to make an offer.
DIOCESAN SPECIAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (SPRED) GROUP MASS
The
SPRED group is having its annual SPRED Mass at 5.30 pm on 20 June. Our normal
Saturday Vigil Mass will be a very happy occasion for the parish when we are able
to invite so many of our special friends.
PARISH BARBECUE
We will have
a Parish Barbecue on the Sunday before the schools reopen in August. Canon
Matt
has had a few declarations of interest and needs a few more from those willing
to help. We will have a planning meeting in a few weeks.
AFRICAN CHILDREN’S
CHOIR
An African Children's Choir will be performing in Saint Cuthbert’s Parish
Church, Saltcoats on Saturday 20 June at 7.30 pm. Tickets costing £5 are
available from Reverend Brian Oxburgh on 602674, StCuthberts100@bt.com
or the Church. All are welcome.
D IN THE PARK
The Park Church Drama
Group presents Children of the Highland Clearances on 19 and 20 June at 7.00 pm
in the Park Church, Ardrossan. Tickets cost £3 and £2 for children
and concessions are available from Aileen or at the door on the night.
CROSSHOUSE
HOSPITAL
You can contact Reverend Deacon Gordon Tustin on 07515 698 180 to
notify him if you or a family member is going into Crosshouse. The hospital is
unable do it. A message will be passed on. If you or a family member is housebound,
please let us know. Unless told, we don’t know about it.

Fourteen places remain vacant so anyone wishing to join 50-50 Club should
contact Mrs Sammons.
ARMED
FORCES DAY 2009
The first Armed Forces Day is to be celebrated on 27 June this
year and then on the following years. To mark the event,we are asked to keep the
Church open that day so that people may be able to have a quiet place to pray
for all who are - or have been - in the Armed Forces, especially remembering those
serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Saint Peter’s is the designated Church for Ardrossan
and will be open between 12 noon and 1.30 pm. There is a joint Service in the
Evangelical Union Church, Glasgow Street, on Monday 22 June at 7.00 pm. Everyone
is welcome to attend. Put it in your diary!
THURSDAY
CLUB
TRIP TO HARROGATE
The bus for the Thursday
Club
trip to Harrogate leaves from the Church car park on Monday 22 June at 9.30 am.
CHILDREN’S
LITURGY
We are in need of more volunteers for the Children’s Liturgy for the
coming August session. As it takes a little time to gain disclosure, we need to
think ahead. Please consider becoming a volunteer, especially if your child is
currently in Primary 3 as they will be taking part in the Sacramental Preparation
next year or if your child will be joining our Pre-5 Liturgy Group in August.
If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063 or Annie Watt.
FATHER
STEPHEN SHARKEY
By the time you read this Father Stephen Sharkey will be on
the flight to Afghanistan for a six month tour of duty with his battalion, the
Fourth Rifles. Please keep him and all our soldiers in your prayers. Father Sharkey
has many sets of Rosary beads and miraculous medals - much valued by soldiers
of whatever religion - with him. I promised we would respond to an invitation
to send a shoe box of useful stuff to any soldier who has little support from
home. Postage is free. More details will be published as we get them.
SAINT
BRENDAN’S PARISH
It has now been established that the Parish would be looking
at a £2 million cost to repair the Saint Brendan's Church, Saltocats. The
Bishop and his advisors, including Father Jim Hayes, have taken the very painful
decision to close and demolish the Church, the hall and the house and merge the
Parish back into Saint Mary’s Parish. A closing Mass will be offered on Monday
20 July at 7.00 pm to which everyone is invited. Please keep the parishioners
of Saint Brendan’s in your prayers. This is a very painful time for them. The
Bishop’s letter to the Parishioners can be read by clicking here.
GALLOWAY
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
Yhe Galloway Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes
is on 6 to 13 July 2009. Our annual pilgrimage, led by Bishop John Cunningham,
will be leaving from Prestwick Airport on Monday 6 of July and there are still
some places available. If anyone would like to join us, please contact the pilgrimage
operator, Mancunia Travel on 0161 7906838.

person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of
people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity with
