OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's
Offertory collection amounted to £721.83. We are grateful for your generous
support of the Parish. Banker's Orders amount to an average of £4000 per
month.
BANKER'S ORDERS, GIFT AID AND WILLS
Have you thought of using
a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Have you signed
a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is
worth £1.28 to us. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your
will? The recession is hitting everyone. Thanks for the support you manage to
give the Parish.
PARISH
CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted
to £343.17 - many thanks.
READERS
Next

WELCOME
PEREGRINATIO PRO CHRISTO
We welcome the Peregrinatio Pro Christo - Journeying
for Christ - team from the Legion
of Mary. The eleven members of the team will be based in the Parish Centre
this week and will visit as many houses in Ardrossan as they can, introducing
themselves and briefly inviting people to attend their own Church, return to Church
or to take up again the habit of prayer. I am grateful to all who offered accommodation
and to those who are providing and serving lunch and dinner to the group. This
week, the weekday evening Mass will be on Friday to give thanks to God for the
graces we will receive from the visit and to thank the group for coming. After
Mass, there will be tea and a social evening in the Parish Centre to which all
are invited. There is no licensed bar but patrons are welcome to bring their own
drinks.

holiday till the first Monday in September. Many thanks to the parents for all

SAINT PETER’S WEBSITE – FORTY THOUSAND VISITS
On 22
June, Saint Peter's website had its forty-thousandth visit since its launch on
13 July 2005. The site has nearly 1000 pages, 610 pictures, 264 bulletins between
1960 and 2009, 7000 links, some audio and video clips and been viewed in 44 countries.
It contains many articles on past and present spiritual and community life in
Saint Peter's. Canon
Matt
and the website author are very grateful to those who have accessed the site,
lent photographs, passed on stories, identified errors, made suggestions and expressed
compliments. The aims of the site are to make parishioners aware of current events
and record our history. If you can help with this project, please contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterinChains.net.
SAINT
BRENDAN’S PARISH
It has now been established that the Parish would be looking
at a £2 million cost to repair the Saint Brendan's Church, Saltocats. The
Bishop and his advisors, including Father Jim Hayes, have taken the very painful
decision to close and demolish the Church, the hall and the house and merge the
Parish back into Saint Mary’s Parish. A closing Mass will be offered on Monday
20 July at 7.00 pm to which everyone is invited. Please keep the parishioners
of Saint Brendan’s in your prayers. This is a very painful time for them. The
Bishop’s letter to the Parishioners can be read by clicking here.
GALLOWAY
LOURDES HOSPITALITE MEMBERSHIP AND PILGRIMAGE
Many thanks to all who returned
the brown envelopes. £250 was raised in subscriptions and donations and
Gift Aid will increase this total. Donations are still welcome. Pass them to Myriame
Sammons. The pilgrimage leaves Prestwick on 6 July. If you would like a petition
placed at Our Lady’s Grotto in Lourdes, please contact Myriame. The Group will
request a Mass in Lourdes for the Parish. Please pray for the success of the pilgrimage.
FATHER
STEPHEN SHARKEY
Father Stephen Sharkey has requested our help and prayers for
the troops in Afghanistan where he is now stationed. Many of our young soldiers
are without support from home so we have decided to create shoebox style packages
for them. A large box will be in the porch of the Church for any donations you
can spare. For these packages we need empty shoes boxes, toiletries but no aerosols
please, sweets but no chocolate, loaf cakes such as tea bread and banana bread
and magazines. Please remember that some of our soldiers are female. Also if you
would like to write to a soldier, feel free to drop a letter in the box. Thank
you in advance for your support.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
We would like to
thank all who have volunteered this past year to allow our excellent Children’s
Liturgy programme to continue. We look forward to working with you again next
year.

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It
seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever
capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is
