SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS

OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £684.07 - many thanks. We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to
£292.16 - many thanks. Each month we pay off our Parish Centre debt by £3000.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from Monday 4 to Friday 8 July 2011. The costs are £413 for bed and breakfast, £448 for half board and £490 for full board. We need to get and pay for a coach to and from Manchester but there will be direct flights to and from Lourdes. This involves an early start from Ardrossan. Anyone interested in joining the Group or who would like to know more details, please contact Harry Sammons or phone 01294 469006. Booking forms are available now.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from 4 to 11 July 2011, flying from Prestwick. Full details are on the poster and booking forms are available.

REDEDICATION OF THE EVANGELICAL UNION CHURCH
The Minister, Office Bearers and Congregation of the Evangelical Union Church in Glasgow Street extend an invitation to Canon Matt and members of Saint Peter’s to the rededication of their refurbished building on Thursday evening at 7.00 pm. After the service, tea will be served in the hall.

BURNS SUPPER
The Burns Supper will take place on Saturday 12 February 2011. Angus Middleton, President of the Robert Burns World Federation in 2006-2007, will deliver The Immortal Memory. Reverend Jim Smith MBE, minister of the Evangelical Union Church, Ardrossan will propose the Toast to the Lassies and Elizabeth McLardy MBE, North Ayrshire councillor for Dalry and West Kilbride will reply. Other participants are Bill Andrew, shown right, Angela Body, Canon Matt, George McGrattan MBE, Michael McCulloch, Ciaran Sinclair and Peter Timmons. The Supper will start at the earlier time of 7.00 pm and patrons are asked to be seated by 6.50 pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and must be booked in advance though the Parish Office on 01294 464063. Patrons can request group seating arrangements to be with friends and vegetarian meals are available with notice as an alternative to the traditional Burns Supper main course. CHARITY CEILIDH
A Charity Ceilidh in aid of Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline will be held in the Seamill Hydro, West Kilbride on Saturday 19 February 2011 from 7.30 pm to 12.30 am. CLOTHING APPEAL
A group of eighteen children from the Ukraine is coming to Ayrshire from 27 February to 27 March. Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline is looking for new pyjamas, underwear and socks for boys and girls aged between 9 and 14. GALLOWAY LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ
Calloway Lourdes Hospitalité, the group which cares for the sick in Lourdes and makes it possible for sick pilgrims to travel, will hold its annual general meeting in Saint Matthew’s Church, Kilmarnock on Sunday 13 February. There is Mass for the Sick and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at 3.30 pm.

ANNIVERSARY LIST
The anniversary list that we use in the Bulletin each week has been updated and reprinted. There is a copy by the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and at the stall. Additions and corrections are very welcome and will be added as the year passes. They can also be intimated to WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterInChains.net. The list is a constant reminder to us that we should pray for those who have died.

GALLOWAY MUSIC NETWORK
Galloway Music Network is organising an event called Singing in Mass to bring musicians and singers from parishes in the diocese to share their musical gifts and to spend an afternoon preparing music for the Vigil Mass of the Fifth Sunday in Ordinary time. Even if you just enjoy singing you will also be very welcome. The event will take place on Saturday 5 February in Saint Mary’s Church, Irvine. We will meet for a light lunch prior to afternoon rehearsal for the Parish Mass which starts at 6.30 pm. For further information please contact Michael McCulloch or phone 07747 800067.

SAINT PETER'S NURSERY
Registration for Saint Peter’s Children’s Centre Nursery for children who were born between 1 March 2007 and 28 February 2009 will take place Monday 31 January and Friday 4 February 2009 between 9.45 and 11.00 am and 1.00 and 2.30 pm. Please bring your child’s birth certificate. All children are funded on their third birthday.

REDUNDANT MOBILE PHONES AND COPIER CARTRIDGES
Redundant mobile phones and copier cartridges are required by the pupils of Saint Matthew’s Academy who can turn them into good money for charity. There is a box in the porch.

SPECIAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GROUP (SPRED)
Thank you to the ladies at the stall for remembering SPRED in the Christmas Raffle. Your gift of £50 is very much appreciated. SPRED meets in Saint John’s Parish Hall, Stevenston on Wednesday evenings from 7.00 to 9.0 pm. 50/50 CLUB
Annual dues of £15 are now due to the 50/50 Club. Collectors will be coming your way. Anyone wishing to join may do so now. Our usual sign-up will be in the foyer of the Parish Centre this weekend before and after all Masses. We appreciate your continued support of the parish and hope you win prizes. VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

MARY'S MEALS, SCOTTISH CATHOLIC INTERNATIONAL AID FUND AND THE MISSIONARY SOCIETIES
These charities are always in need of any help you can give them.

LEGION OF MARY
The
Legion of Mary meets weekly and prays for the parish. The members visit the sick and house-bound. The Legion can always do with new male and female members giving as much or as little time as they can afford. Speak to Canon Matt or any of the members.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The
Saint Vincent de Paul Society meets weekly, assists with the passkeeping and collecting duties in Church and runs a telephone helpline for those in financial difficulty. To ensure its survival, the Society urgently requires new male and female members. You must be over 18. The work is difficult. There are many people in our parish and community who require assistance with finance, advice and encouragement. “The harvest is great, but the labourers few.” Please speak to Canon Matt or any of the members.

SAINT ANNE'S GUILD
Saint Anne's Guild meets weekly on a Tuesday at 7.00 pm. It is open to all women in the parish and beyond. Speak to any of the members and feel free to join any of the meetings.

IGNATIAN PRAYER GROUP
Each month, the Ignatian Prayer Group meets on the first Wednesday at 7.30 pm, the second Tuesday at 7.30 pm and the last Tuesday at 2.00 pm.

PRAYER REQUESTS
We have had a request from the Bishop of Sudan to pray for peace in their country. The people are suffering very badly. Leaflets are available. There is also an urgent request from the Holy Father that we pray for the Church in China. There is renewed repression of the Church.

SOUNDS OF PRAISE
There will be an evening of traditional and contemporary Christian Music led by a dedicated choir and featuring Alistair MacDonald in Ayr Town Hall on Saturday 19 February at 7.0 pm. It will be presented by West Sound Radio in aid of Cash for Kids. Tickets cost £10 but £7.50 before the end of January. They are available from West Sound Radio, 54 Holmston Road, Ayr. Details are on the poster.
