PARISH ACCOUNTS
Canon
Matt hopes to present the Parish Accounts at Mass in the
next couple of weeks. We early balanced the books this year but only by using
money set aside for maintaining our buildings and expenditure was higher than
income. We are badly falling behind on maintenance. Every rain storm brings
up more leaks in the tower and where there are flat roofs. The windows on
the sea side present a real problem and need work done soon. We will need
to do some fund-raising. To cover shortfalls in the diocesan expenditure,
we have been asked to give 20% of our income instead of 15%. I have questioned
this steep increase at a time when everyone is hurting financially and said
that I cannot hope to increase our collection income to cover this. I’ll keep
you posted. Every month we pay £3000 for the debt on the Parish Centre
plus £1250 for the 15% levy. This increase plus an annual levy of £1500
for the Retired Priests Fund would see us having to give the diocese another
£500 a month - a total of £4750 per month out of our ordinary
income. It cannot be done!
CLOTHING APPEAL
A group of eighteen children from the Ukraine is coming to Ayrshire from 27
February to 27 March. Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline is looking for new pyjamas,
underwear and socks for boys and girls aged between 9 and 14. If anyone has
anything to donate or would be interested in hosting children from Belarus
or Ukraine, please contact Michael or Lisa Lafferty or phone 01294 461234
or 07813 650411.
GALLOWAY LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ
Calloway Lourdes Hospitalité, the group which cares for the sick in
Lourdes and makes it possible for sick pilgrims to travel, will hold its annual
general meeting in Saint Matthew’s Church, Kilmarnock on Sunday 13 February.
There is Mass for the Sick and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
at 3.30 pm.
ANNIVERSARY LIST

is a copy by the Blessed Sacrament
Chapel and at the stall. Additions and corrections are very welcome and
will be added as the year passes. They can also be intimated to WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterInChains.net.
The list is a constant reminder to us that we should pray for those who have
died.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
