BANKER'S ORDERS

COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more in your collection? A new form is available.

GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in the collection bag. We received £20 this week to make the total so far £7494. I am very grateful.

MISSION APPEAL
This weekend, there will be a Mission Appeal by the Columban Fathers. This is our Annual Mission appeal. Give what you can.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
The Fourth Sunday of Easter - just past - each year is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. It is the responsibility of all of us. Have you thought about the next generation of priests? Given the age of your priest, is it not likely that Saint Peter’s will need a replacement quite soon? Where will he come from? Currently we have no students in training and we ought to have. Could God be calling you to priesthood? The Diocesan Vocations Director is Father Willie Boyd of Irvine. Contact him on 01294 279130 for more information.

WORLD YOUTH DAY
The Pope invites young people from all over the world to gather every two or three years for a festival of Catholic faith. This year, World Youth Day will take place in Madrid. Thirty-four young people from Galloway diocese are already taking part and there are three more places available. The group leaves on 9 August to spend five days in Salamanca, a young and vibrant university city where the Scots College which trained priests for Scotland is located. There they will be welcomed by the young local church to share faith, culture and friendship. The group will then travel to Madrid and stay there for six days when there will be international youth gatherings, public prayer and Mass, and youth festivals across the city, culminating in the final World Youth Day event when two million young people are expected for Mass with Pope Benedict. The group returns to Scotland on 23 August. The Church would love you to be part of this life-changing event! You must be sixteen years old by 9 August. The cost is £850 but your parish may be willing to support fundraising for this event. For more information, visit www.Madrid11.com or email the Diocesan Youth Officer, Father Stephen McGrattan on info@rccumnock.org.uk.

SERVICE OF TAIZE PRAYER AND PRAISE FOR PENTECOST
There will be a service of Taize Prayer and Praise for Pentecost in Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Ardrossan on Wednesday 15 June at 7.30 pm. Everyone is welcome.

HEATING SYSTEM AND SACRISTY
The heating system got its annual inspection recently - and the boiler was condemned. I am grateful it is at a good time of the year. There is nothing for it but a new boiler. I am looking into the possibility of a system which in time can be used to heat the Parish Centre which presently has electric heating. I will keep you posted. The Church gutters on the sea side have been repaired and refitted and await painting. The back sacristy is being refitted having been gutted. The brown envelopes will be a great help.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from 4 to 8 July 2011.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from 4 to 11 July 2011, flying from Prestwick. Full details are on the poster and booking forms are available. If you could make the journey as a sick pilgrim and want more information, contact Janie Agnew or phone 07739 399222.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30. Please leave plenty of time. There has been a problem. The last two ordered have not arrived. It is being investigated. We hope to resume normal service soon.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

50/50 CLUB
The 50/50 Club is an important fundraiser for the parish. If you would like to join, please contact the promoter Myriame Sammons or phone 469006.

LEGION OF MARY
The
Legion of Mary meets weekly and prays for the parish. The members visit the sick and house-bound. The Legion can always do with new male and female members giving as much or as little time as they can afford. Speak to Canon Matt or any of the members.

SAINT ANNE'S GUILD OUTING
Saint Anne's Guild's bus for the outing to Stirling leaves from the Church grounds at 10.00 am on Tuesday 7 June. We acknowledge the donation of £200 for Church funds. It won’t pay for the new boiler but it is very generous all the same.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The
Saint Vincent de Paul Society meets weekly, assists with the passkeeping and collecting duties in church and runs a telephone helpline for those in financial difficulty. To ensure its survival, the Society urgently requires new male and female members. You must be over eighteen. The work is difficult because there are many people in our parish and community who require assistance with finance, advice and encouragement. Please speak to Canon Matt or any of the members. Saint Peter’s Conference wishes to express sincere thanks to everyone who supported the Coffee Morning and Sale by donating baking, raffle prizes, bric à brac, toys, books and so on; to all who worked so hard by helping on the day and of course to everyone who came to support the event and to buy so generously. A total of £917.63 was raised. The Conference has agreed to round up this amount and each of three Twin Conferences in India and one in South Africa will therefore receive £250.00.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
