SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £788.90 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
COLUMBAN FATHERS COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Columban Fathers amounted to £915.25
- many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the
Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing
Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay
tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on
your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need
do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more
in your collection? A new form is available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do
on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take
one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in
the collection bag. We received £170 this week to make the total so
far £7664. I am very grateful.
MISSION APPEAL
This weekend, there will be a Mission Appeal by the Columban Fathers. This
is our Annual Mission appeal. Give what you can.
PRAYERS FOR THE CHURCH IN CHINA
The Holy Father has asked for urgent prayers for the Church in China, asking
the intercession of our Blessed Lady to pray for Christians in China.

Next

pm, Margaret Harvey at 10.00 am and Angela Body at
12 noon.

am and Group 7 at 12 noon.

SMITHSTONE HOUSE SUMMER FAYRE
A Summer Fayre will be held at Smithsone House, Kilwinning on Sunday 5 June
from 2.00 to 4.00 pm. This is an afternoon out for all the family.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
The Fourth Sunday of Easter - just past - each year is the World
Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. It is the
responsibility of all of us. Have you thought about the next generation of
priests? Given the age of your priest, is it not likely that Saint Peter’s
will need a replacement quite soon? Where will he come from? Currently we
have no students in training and we ought to have. Could God be calling you
to priesthood? The Diocesan Vocations Director is Father Willie Boyd of Irvine.
Contact him on 01294 279130 for more information.
WORLD YOUTH DAY
The Pope invites young people from all over the world to gather every two
or three years for a festival of Catholic faith. This year, World Youth Day
will take place in Madrid. Thirty-seven young people from Galloway diocese
are taking part. For more information, visit www.Madrid11.com
or email the Diocesan Youth Officer, Father
Stephen McGrattan on info@rccumnock.org.uk.
SERVICE OF TAIZE PRAYER AND PRAISE FOR PENTECOST
There will be a service of Taize Prayer and Praise for Pentecost in Saint
Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Ardrossan on Wednesday 15 June at 7.30 pm. Everyone
is welcome.
HEATING SYSTEM AND SACRISTY
The heating system got its annual inspection recently - and the boiler was
condemned. I am grateful it is at a good time of the year. There is nothing
for it but a new boiler. I am looking into the possibility of a system which
in time can be used to heat the Parish Centre which presently has electric
heating. I will keep you posted. The Church gutters on the sea side have been
repaired and refitted and await painting. The back sacristy is being refitted
having been gutted. The brown envelopes will be a great help.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The parish pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from 4 to 8 July 2011.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from 4 to 11 July 2011, flying
from Prestwick. Full details are on the poster and booking forms are available.
If you could make the journey as a sick pilgrim and want more information,
contact Janie Agnew or phone 07739 399222.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time. There has been a problem. The last two ordered
have not arrived. It is being investigated. We hope to resume normal service
soon.
POPE BENEDICT XVI CARITAS AWARD
Pope Benedict XVI has launched the Caritas Award to encourage young people
in their final year at secondary school to commit their time and talents to
support others in their parish communities. It is hoped to recognise the involvement
of those young people who are already active in parish life and also encourage
others to become more involved. More details are available from www.sces.org.uk.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
50/50 CLUB
The 50/50 Club is an important fundraiser for the parish. If you
would like to join, please contact the promoter Myriame Sammons or phone 469006.
LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary meets
weekly and prays for the parish. The members visit the sick and house-bound.
The Legion can always do with new male and female members giving as much or
as little time as they can afford. Speak to Canon
Matt or any of the members.
SAINT
ANNE'S GUILD
Saint
Anne's Guild's bus for the outing to Stirling leaves from
the Church grounds at 10.00 am on Tuesday 7 June. We acknowledge the donation
of £200 from Saint
Anne's Guild for Church funds. It won’t pay for the new
boiler but it is very generous all the same. The Guild will resume after the
summer.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society
meets weekly, assists with the passkeeping and collecting duties in
church and runs a telephone helpline for those in financial difficulty. New
male and female members are a priority as the number of people needing help
is increasing rapidly. You must be over eighteen. The work is difficult because
there are many people in our parish and community who require assistance with
finance, advice and encouragement. Please speak to Canon
Matt or any of the members.
EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
There is a suggestion that we might do the evening sail to Arran again this
year. We need to find a settled spell of weather and then head for the Arran
boat around 6.00 pm then sail to Arran and back around 9.pm. There is no need
to book - just turn up, buy a ticket, bring a picnic and enjoy the evening.
More information will be given later.
KILWINNING PARISH HOLIDAY
The combined parishes of Kilwinning have six places left for their annual
holiday. The destination this year is Scarborough. If you would like to go,
please call Joyce on 01294 552213.
SAINT ANDREW’S ACADEMY REUNION
There is a class reunion planned for the year group who started Saint Andrew's
Academy, Saltcoats in 1986. It will take place on Saturday 10 September in
Saint Peter's Parish Centre. Anybody from that year group interested in going,
please contact Alan Burns on 07977 124524 or Louise (Breen) Clarke 07779 581840.
CAMP FREDRIC 2011
A three day camp at Auchengillan Scout Camp, Blanefield, near Glasgow is being
organised by the Saint Vincent de
Paul Society for young people aged between 14 and 18 years of
age. There are three days of fun, meeting new people and reflection. As well
as outdoor activities, sports, workshops and crafts there will be social events
in the evening such as karaoke and disco. It is an opportunity to meet other
young Catholic people from all over Scotland. Camp Frederic is being held
from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 June. If anyone is interested please contact
one of the Saint Vincent de Paul
members or Canon
Matt.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
