SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £699.08 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £339.39
- many thanks.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the
Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing
Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay
tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on
your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need
do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more
in your collection? A new form is available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do
on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take
one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in
the collection bag. We received £50 this week to make the total so far
£8190. I am very grateful.
READERS
Next
weekend's readers are Pauline Taylor at 5.30
pm, Margaret Harvey at 10.00 am and Jim Delahunt at 12 noon.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm, Group 4 at 10.00
am and Group 7 at 12 noon.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy will resume on 28 August.
SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Kathleen Chapman’s team.
THROUGHCARE TEAM
North Ayrshire Council Social Services and Health's Throughcare Team is looking
to recruit supported carers for young people leaving care. An allowance and
ongoing support are provided for anyoneable to offer a place within their
home to a young person. If you are interested, please contact Throughcare
on 01294 602527 for further information.
CHURCH MAINTENANCE
The cost of repairing the gutters and general work on the edges of the roof
was just over £5000 with about £1000 in value added tax - a bit
more than expected. The brown envelopes have been a great help. A new boiler
is soon to be installed. I will keep you posted.

The bonus prize of £100 was won by 211 Mary Mathieson. Well done to
all of you. The winning cheques are in the post. Members should ensure the
Promoter is updated with any change of address. We have a few vacant places
and are happy to welcome new members at any time. The fund supports our parish
and is very much appreciated.
PARISH LOURDES GROUP PILGRIMAGE
A small parish group, led by Canon
Matt, is heading off to Lourdes on Monday 4 July and will
be back on Friday 8 July. We will remember the parish in our prayers. Anyone
wishing petitions placed at the Grotto, please contact Harry Sammons or any
member of the group today. The Parish Office will be open as usual and Father
Bell (463461) and Father Poland (463225) are on call.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn will take place on Sunday 28 August. Mass
will be celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in the town church
at 4.45 pm.
PARISH CENTRE TABLES
We loan some Parish Centre tables to parishioners at Christmas for parties
you have at home. There are a couple missing - you wouldn’t have one at home?
We could do with them all back, please - no questions asked.
PARISH BARBECUE FOR CHRISTIAN AID
There
will be a parish barbecue on Sunday 31 July from 2.00 to 5.00 pm. We didn’t
take part in the door-to-door collection this year as Canon
Matt is not keen on sending people out to go round doors. The
Sunday afternoon barbecue fundraiser is open to everyone and is supported
by the Ardrossan Churches Group. Tickets are available at £1 for Christian
Aid to give us an indication of numbers. Food and so on is available to purchase
and there will be some fundraising stalls.
THE NEW MISSAL
We begin to use the new translation of the missal in September and the new
texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There will be
'pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them in the
pews. If you wish a pocketor handbag copy, they will be available from the
stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions of the
Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to responding
"and with your spirit" instead of "and also with you"
very soon. The readings are not changing but they will conclude with "The
Word of the Lord" instead of "This is the Word of the Lord.".
The new Altar Missal will cost us around £300 but there is no option.
Very soon, Sunday and even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat
will use the new translations as they are introduced. A document titled Getting
To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by clicking here.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
POPE BENEDICT XVI CARITAS AWARD
Pope Benedict XVI has launched the Caritas Award to encourage young people
in their final year at secondary school to commit their time and talents to
support others in their parish communities. It is hoped to recognise the involvement
of those young people who are already active in parish life and also encourage
others to become more involved. More details are available from www.sces.org.uk.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
50/50 CLUB
The 50/50 Club is an important fundraiser for the parish. If you
would like to join, please contact the promoter Myriame Sammons or phone 469006.
EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
Weather permitting, we will do the evening sail to Arran again this year on
Wednesday 27 July. The boat leaves at 6.00 pm and comes back around 8.15 pm.
Alternatively, you can go earlier and come back with us. There is no need
to book - just turn up, buy a ticket, bring a picnic and enjoy the evening.
More information will be given later.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
