OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £699.08 - many thanks. We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to
£300.93 - many thanks.

BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available.

COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more in your collection? A new form is available.

GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in the collection bag. We received £20 this week to make the total so far £8310. I am very grateful. We also received £300 to pay for the new missal - thanks.

CHURCH MAINTENANCE
The cost of repairing the gutters and general work on the edges of the roof was just over £5000 with about £1000 in value added tax - a bit more than expected. The brown envelopes have been a great help. A new boiler is soon to be installed. I will keep you posted.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Margaret Munn at 5.30 pm, Robert Cooper at 10.00 am and Tom Reid at 12 noon.

ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm, Group 5 at 10.00 am and Group 7 at 12 noon.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy will resume on 28 August.

SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Lynsay Houstonís team.

SIX YEARS OF SAINT PETERíS WEBSITE
Saint Peter's website was launched six years ago on 13 July 2005. The site has over 1300 web pages, 780 pictures, 370 bulletins between 1960 and 2011, 11000 links, some audio and video clips, has been viewed in over 60 countries worldwide and had over 64000 'hits'. It contains many articles on past and present spiritual and community life in Saint Peter's. Canon Matt and the website author are very grateful to those who have accessed the site, lent photographs, passed on stories, identified errors, made suggestions and expressed compliments. The aims of the site are to make parishioners aware of current events and record our history. If you can help with this project, please contact WebsiteAuthor@SaintPeterinChains.net. The website address is www.SaintPeterInChains.net. The site also carries our Anniversary List with over 1000 names of deceased parishioners and friends. Please inform us of any additions or corrections.

50/50 CLUB
The 50/50 club welcomes two new members this week and we wish them good luck. You too could be a winner. To join, contact the promoter Myriame Sammons or phone 469006. The next draw takes place this weekend. Remember you need to be in it to win it.

SAINT PETERíS RAINBOWS AND BROWNIES
Girls who will be five years and wish to start Rainbows on Monday nights and girls who will be seven years and wish to start Brownies on Monday nights in the Parish Centre, should contact the Leader-in-Charge, Mrs Sammons or telephone 469006 in order to join the waiting list. We restart on the first Monday in September.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn will take place on Sunday 28 August. Mass will be celebrated at Saint Ninianís Cave at 4.00 pm and in the town church at 4.45 pm.

PARISH BARBECUE FOR CHRISTIAN AID
There will be a parish barbecue on Sunday 31 July from 2.00 to 5.00 pm. We didnít take part in the door-to-door collection this year as Canon Matt is not keen on sending people out to go round doors. The Sunday afternoon barbecue fundraiser is open to everyone and is supported by the Ardrossan Churches Group. Tickets are available at £1 for Christian Aid to give us an indication of numbers. Food and so on is available to purchase and there will be some fundraising stalls. Sales tables are available - you keep the proceeds - at £10 per table. Prizes are needed for a raffle. Please hand them in to the office. We hope to have a bouncy castle and so on.

THE NEW MISSAL
We begin to use the new translation of the missal in September and the new texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There will be 'pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them in the pews. If you wish a pocketor handbag copy, they will be available from the stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions of the Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to responding "and with your spirit" instead of "and also with you" very soon. The readings are not changing but they will conclude with "The Word of the Lord" instead of "This is the Word of the Lord.". The new Altar Missal will cost us around £300 but there is no option. Very soon, Sunday and even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat will use the new translations as they are introduced. An document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by clicking here.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30. Please leave plenty of time.

POPE BENEDICT XVI CARITAS AWARD
Pope Benedict XVI has launched the Caritas Award to encourage young people in their final year at secondary school to commit their time and talents to support others in their parish communities. It is hoped to recognise the involvement of those young people who are already active in parish life and also encourage others to become more involved. More details are available from
www.sces.org.uk.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.00 am Mass there is a Childrenís Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre debt.

EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
Weather permitting, we will do the evening sail to Arran again this year on Wednesday 27 July. The boat leaves at 6.00 pm and comes back around 8.15 pm. Alternatively, you can go earlier and come back with us. There is no need to book - just turn up, buy a ticket, bring a picnic and enjoy the evening. More information will be given later.

MARY'S MEALS
Mary's Meals work with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They offer help by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles - and turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. Our annual collection of used clothes and textiles only takes place on the weekend of 27 and 28 August. Now would be a good time to get ready.

SAINT ANDREWíS ACADEMY REUNION
There is a class reunion planned for the year group who started Saint Andrew's Academy, Saltcoats in 1986. It will take place on Saturday 10 September in Saint Peter's Parish Centre. Anybody from that year group interested in going, please contact Alan Burns on 07977 124524 or Louise (Breen) Clarke 07779 581840.
