OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £659.37 - many thanks. We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.

PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to
£330.12 - many thanks.

BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available.

COLLECTION ENVELOPES
Would you like collection envelopes for the coming year? Please contact the Parish Office on 464063 or add your name to the list at the stall. Standing Orders made through your bank are handier. Forms are available. If you pay tax and sign a Gift Aid form then the Church is entitled to the tax paid on your contributions. We apply and it is paid directly to the Church. You need do nothing except sign a form. Could you consider putting a little bit more in your collection? A new form is available.

GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

FUNDRAISING
Following my Financial Statement and my appeal about the work we need to do on the church building, there is a 'brown envelope' collection. Please take one home and read what is in it. Take as many as you like and drop them in the collection bag. We received £230 this week to make the total so far £11000. I am very grateful.

CHURCH HEATING
A new boiler is soon to be installed. I will keep you posted. After more than six weeks, only one estimate has been received. Two more are awaited.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
The cost of repairing the gutters and general work on the edges of the roof was just over £5000, about £1000 of which was vat - a bit more than expected. The brown envelopes have been a great help. We are having a long wait for the tiles at the entrance to the Parish Centre to be repaired. There are difficulties with matching what is there. We had lead stolen from the link between the Centre and the Church. Estimates and repairs are awaited. Some of the work will be covered by insurance.

READERS
Next weekend's readers are Elsie Brodie at 5.30 pm, Robert Cooper at 10.00 am and Ronnie Cairns at 12 noon.

ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 2 at 5.30 pm, Group 5 at 10.00 am and Group 6 at 12 noon.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy will resume on 28 August.

SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Kathleen Chapman’s team.

DEAN OF THE DEANERY
Father Martin Poland, Saint John’s Church, Stevenston, has been re-elected Dean of this Deanery. The Dean’s job is to ensure the well-being of the priests and parishes in the Deanery, convene meetings of the priests and to act on behalf of the bishop in matters concerning the deanery. The Dean is elected by the priests and appointed by the Bishop. Father Martin is a very popular choice.

ARDROSSAN CHURCHES BARBECUE FOR CHRISTIAN AID
Very many thanks to all who came along for the barbecue. The sum of £1005 was raised for Christian Aid and should help the starving people in East Africa. Other charities, including HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust and the Neonatal Unit also benefited.

SAINT PETER’S RAINBOWS AND BROWNIES
Girls who will be five years and wish to start Rainbows on Monday nights and girls who will be seven years and wish to start Brownies on Monday nights in the Parish Centre, should contact the Leader-in-Charge, Mrs Sammons or telephone 469006 in order to join the waiting list. We restart on the first Monday in September.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN

ANNUAL NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE IN HONOUR OF SAINT JOHN OGILVIE
The annual pilgrimage to Carfin in honour of Saint John Ogilvie takes place on Sunday 4 September. The Mass, celebrated by Cardinal O’Brien and the bishops, takes place at 3.00 pm.

THE NEW MISSAL
A document titled Getting To Know The New Roman Missal can be accessed by clicking here. You might find it useful. We begin to use the new translation in September and the new texts for the prayers and so on will be introduced in Advent. There will be pew cards' available for the start. Please use them and leave them in the pews. If you wish a pocket or handbag copy, they will be available from the stall. At the beginning, the responses and the slightly new versions of the Gloria and Creed are all that matter. Please God we will get used to responding “and with your spirit” instead of “and also with you" very soon. The Readings are not changing but they will conclude with “The Word of the Lord” instead of “This is the Word of the Lord.”. The new Altar Missal is ordered. It was a gift from a family in the parish. Very soon, Sunday and even Daily Missals will be available to order. Magnificat will use the new translations as they are introduced.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO THE HOLY LAND
A diocesan pilgrimage to the Holy Land, led by Bishop Cunningham, has been organised for 15 to 22 October 2012. It is expected that this pilgrimage group will be quite small in number - between 30 and 40 pilgrims - therefore early booking is recommended. For more information, please see the poster and leaflets provided. Further details he obtained by contacting Mancunia Travel Limited.

SAINT ANDREW’S ACADEMY REUNION
There is a class reunion planned for the year group who started Saint Andrew's Academy, Saltcoats in 1986. It will take place on Saturday 10 September in Saint Peter's Parish Centre. Anybody from that year group interested in going, please contact Alan Burns on 07977 124524 or Louise (Breen) Clarke 07779 581840.

MARY'S MEALS
Mary's Meals work with some of the poorest people in Third World countries. They offer help by collecting unwanted or unused clothing and bedding - all textiles - and turning them into funds to carry out their work overseas. Our annual collection of used clothes and textiles only takes place on the weekend of 27 and 28 August. Now would be a good time to get ready.

PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30. Please leave plenty of time.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome.
