BARONY SAINT JOHN’S CHURCH

FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT LEAFLET
Please pick up and read a copy of the First Sunday of Advent leaflet.
CHURCH HEATING
The help you are giving to pay for the new boiler is very, very useful. The
brown envelope donations of £20+ - and gift-aided if you can - is certainly
easing the pain. Some fundraising by parish groups would be a great help.
Brown envelope donations of £230 bring the total to £3571. We
are getting there!
CHRISTMAS CARDS AND CALENDARS
A lovely selection to Christmas cards and calendars is available at the Stall.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The cost of the parchment and postage is about £30.
Please leave plenty of time.
GALLOWAY
LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ SUBSCRIPTIONS
The return the Galloway Lourdes Hospitalité subscriptions for 2011
so far is £162 - memberships £82 from 42 members and donations
of £80. Maybe some members have not returned their envelopes as yet.
Please hand in envelopes as soon as possible to Myriame Sammons. Mass is offered
in Lourdes for our members and benefactors.
50/50 CLUB
The November draw is on the last Sunday of the month. Renewals are due in
January for 2012. If you would like more information or to join please contact
the promoter on 469006.
THURSDAY NIGHT GUIDES AND BROWNIES
The Thursday night Guides and Brownies raised £500 for their use of
the Parish Centre at their recent Bingo Evening. Many thanks to them.
SUNG EVENING PRAYER OF THE CHURCH FOR ADVENT
The Evening Prayer of the Church will be sung in Saint Margaret’s Cathedral,
Ayr on Sunday 27 November at 7.00 pm to mark the beginning of the Advent season.
You are very welcome to this solemn, yet still time of prayer.
THANKS
Annie Watt wishes to thank those friends and parishioners for their prayers,
masses and cards received during her recent illness. Canon
McManus will offer two Masses in thanksgiving, one for friends
and parishioners and the other for all those who are sick.

European languages can be printed from the parish website.

Being Church day to be held on 13 November.
TOILETRIES
FOR THE OZANAM CENTRE
The Saint Vincent de Paul Conference wishes
to thank everyone who donated toiletries for the Ozanam Centre in Glasgow.
These are being taken to the Centre to be distributed to the many homeless
men and women who attend there. As in previous years, there was a most generous
response to this appeal which is greatly appreciated. Thank you most sincerely
for your help.

PROTECTION
OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
