LENT
We are in a period of prayer, penance and almsgiving. The days are precious.
Lent is our 'Desert Experience' - it prepares us for the journey of life, a journey which will end with God. During Lent, do without something you like but don’t need; share something of what you have with the poor at home or abroad; make a little time for prayer each day. Towards the end of Lent, there will be Penance Services in each of our local churches. Make it this year that you celebrate Confession and Forgiveness.

Stations of the Cross are prayed on Friday mornings during Lent at 9.40 am.

The gravestone of Father Lynch and Father Kigozi in Ardrossan Cemetery has been cleaned, re-lettered and had Father Gabriel’s name added.

CHURCH REPAIRS
Too much rain over the last few months means that the Church doors were damaged. They have been removed and after drying out and shrinking back, have been refitted. We sustained a lot of storm damage to the house, Church, parish centre and to t
he tower in recent storms. We have leaks and more lead was stolen. Repairs are taking some time and most of the cost - around £8000 - will be carried by our insurance company. Like everyone else, we will have to find some of the cost ourselves. Brown envelope donations of £60 bring the total to £1509.50.

USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is now a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds. Thanks.

SAINT MATTHEW’S ACADEMY PARENT COUNCIL
The Parent Council of Saint Matthew's Academy, Saltcoats requires a clerk for its monthly meetings. The rate is £7.50 per hour and meeting, preparation and writing-up time amount to four hours per month. Meeting are on a Monday evening in the Academy. Full details are available from from Michael Sharkey on SharkeyM@hotmail.co.uk.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY LENTEN APPEAL FOR TOILETRIES
During the weeks of Lent, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society are once again asking the parishioners of Saint Peter's to donate both male and female toiletries for use in the Ozanam Centre in Glasgow. The Ozanam Centre assists the homeless, both male and female and so any donations of either male or female toiletries would be very gratefully received. A box will be placed in the Church porch for any donations and we hope that we can rely on your usual very generous support.

WALKING WITH THE POOR

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone. It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in whatever capacity
with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
