SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY
COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £818.41 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted to £342.24

PETER’S
PENCE COLLECTION
The Peter's Pence collection, sent directly to Pope Benedict for distribution
to the poorest parts of the Church, will be taken up this weekend.
BANKER'S ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Have you signed a Gift Aid Form? If you pay tax, then every £1 you give
to the Parish is worth £1.28 to us. Forms are available.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
The Children's Liturgy is run by volunteers on a rota basis. We are in need
of more volunteers for the coming August session. Anyone can volunteer! As
it takes a little time to gain disclosure, we need to think ahead. Please
consider becoming a volunteer, especially if your child is currently in Primary
3 as they will be taking part in the Sacramental Preparation next year or
if your child will be joining our three to five year olds Liturgy Group in
August. If you are interested, please contact the Parish Office on 464063.
GIFT
Miss Andrea McGrady has gifted us a Dorothy Bruce painting of the Church.
A photograph of the painting is on the website, a section is on the front
of this Bulletin and the original will hang in the presbytery. Just call in
if you would like to see the painting which is shown below.
ANNUAL
PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN
The
annual pilgrimage to Whithorn takes place on Sunday 26 August. Mass will be
celebrated at Saint Ninian’s Cave at 4.00 pm and in Saint Ninian’s Church
at 4.45 pm.
THE
THREE TOWNS PARISHES
We are now at the stage when we must plan for a time when we will have fewer
priests. Presently we have duplication and gaps in the Mass times in the Three
Towns. Many people now have 'a parish of choice' rather than where they live
- and that is fine. But it does mean that people move about for Mass and that
we could be better organised. On a Sunday, we have Churches often only half
full, several Masses at the same time and on weekdays Mass at the same time
often in three Churches. It must be possible to rationalise some of this to
accommodate a better use of our resources in terms of priests, buildings,
heating, information. Nothing has been decided but the planning is necessary.
Canon Poland, Father Bell and I would value your thoughts on the first steps.
Daily Mass routines have to be changed from time to time as your priests have
other duties. Funeral times have to be altered but I am sure you don’t like
turning up expecting Mass just to find it is not being celebrated. Help us
to try to find a way to help. There is now very little prospect of 'holiday
cover' so we must make alternative plans. It is possible that on Sundays including
Vigils, we should look at offering two Masses in each Church. There is surely
no need for three Vigil Masses, five morning Masses and one evening Mass each
weekend. On weekdays, we presently have fifteen Masses spread over three Churches.
That cannot be sustained for much longer. If we work at what two priests could
offer, then we must reduce the Sunday Masses to six with one Vigil, one evening
and four morning. Weekday Masses might be reduced to ten with two each day.
Special arrangements would be made for funerals.
LAPEL
CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these
days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.
50/50 CLUB WINNERS
Congratulations go to our 50/50 Club winners for June. The following members
each win £25 - 261 Rose Bowers, 271 Alison Tarbet, 245 Patrick Henry
and 58 Maureen Kelly. The Bonus Draw winner for the second quarter is 135
Kerr Carson who wins £100. Thanks to all our members for their continued
support and good luck in the July draw. Please remember to let the Promoter
have your details should you have a new address, since winning cheques are
posted direct to our members.
CHRISTIAN
AID BARBECUE
It
is hoped to repeat last year’s very successful barbecue on the afternoon of
Sunday 12 August. All the churches in Ardrossan will take part.
CHURCH REPAIRS
Due
to a change in the required wording for Gift Aid, we have had to change the
envelopes. The brown envelopes are now white! The help you give by dropping
one in from time to time is invaluable. We are in the process of getting estimates
for the painting of the Church so I will be coming to you with an appeal for
funds shortly. White envelope donations stand at £2974.50.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up
drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty
of time.
NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99
or £9.99.
LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most
European languages can be printed from the parish website.
NOVENA CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena Candles available at the stall.
EVENING SAIL TO ARRAN
We
have had a couple of very successful evening sails to Arran and back. Just
buy a ticket and meet on the boat which sails at about 6.00 pm and returns
before 9.00 pm by staying on board. Alternatively, you could go during the
day and come back with us. Bring a picnic and perhaps something to wash it
down or buy food on the boat. If it is a wild night, just stay at home. It
makes no money but is a good evening out. The date will be arranged soon.

USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small box
at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile phones
for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed funds.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
