from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
OFFERTORY
COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £635.60 - many thanks.
We are grateful for your generous support of the parish and the diocese to
which we pay a monthly levy of £1250.
PARISH CENTRE COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for the Parish Centre amounted
to £264.84
- many thanks.
BANKER'S
ORDERS
Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling
of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of
£3800 per month. Forms are available.
GIFT AID
Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax.
You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why
not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give
the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no
need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
WILLS
Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
CHURCH REPAIRS
The help you give for Church repairs by dropping in a white envelope from
time to time is invaluable. Recent donations of £5 bring the total to
£4429.50. This will offset the painting of the Church but we still have
a fair bit more to do.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Celia Andrew at 5.30
pm, Margaret Harvey at 10.00 pm and Harry Sammons
at 12 noon.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Group 1 at 5.30 pm, Group 3 at 10.00
am and Group 6 at 12 noon.
SUNDAY TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Saint Peter's School team.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Volunteers for the Children's Liturgy are invited to a meeting on Tuesday
20 November at 7.00 pm in the Parish Centre. There will be tea and coffee
and a chance to meet for a support chat and catch up. Anyone who is considering
volunteering with the Children’s Liturgy and would like to know more and volunteers
from other ministries are also very welcome. Next Sunday's Children's Liturgy
helpers are Emma Paterson and Elissa Millar for the pre-5s, Sharon McLaughlin,
Elaine Shaw and Yvette Thorpe for primaries 1, 2 and 3 and Maria Paterson
and Michelle Morton for primary 4.
HOLY SOULS MASSES
During November, Mass will be offered each week for the Holy Souls. Names
can be put on the November Lists. Mass will be offered for everyone on our
Anniversary List and
for all your family members and friends.
BURNS SUPPER
The Burns Supper will take place in the Parish Centre on Saturday 26 January
2013 at 7.00 pm and patrons are asked to be seated by 6.50 pm. The Chief Executive
Officer of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Tony Finn, will deliver
The Immortal Memory. The Reverend Sandy Montgomerie of Saint Andrew's Scottish
Episcopal Church, Ardrossan will propose the Toast to the Lassies and Anne
Clarke formerly of North Ayrshire Council will reply. Other participants are
Canon
Matt,
Bill Andrew, Michael McCulloch, George McGrattan and Ciaran Sinclair. Tickets
cost £12.50 and should be booked in advance though the Parish Office
on 01294 464063. Patrons can request group seating arrangements to be with
friends. Vegetarian meals are available with notice as an alternative to the
traditional Burns Supper main course.
CEMETERY MASS
The annual Mass in the Cemetery for the parishioners of Ardrossan and Saltcoats
will be held on Sunday 18 November at 2.00 pm.
CHRISTMAS
GREETINGS
Instead of local Christmas cards this year, would you be interested in taking
a 'greetings square' in a supplement to the Sunday Bulletin? A sample is available
at the stall. In exchange for a donation to Church funds, we could publish
your greetings to friends in the parish. We could take about sixty and would
publish it for two weeks before Christmas. Envelopes for your message and
a donation are available at the stall.
SUNDAY MASS TIMES
From Sunday
2 December, the Mass times in Saint Peter's will be 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30
am. Sunday Mass times in other local
parishes can be seen here.
LAPEL
CROSSES
Cardinal O’Brien called on all Catholics to 'wear a cross with pride' these
days. We have a few lapel crosses available at the stall.
HCPT
CRAFT FAIR
HCPT Group 207 will be holding its annual Christmas Craft Fair at Saint John's
Church Hall, Stevenston on Sunday 18 November at 12 noon. All are welcome.
YEAR OF FAITH
An adult education course for the Year of Faith will be held in Saint Bride’s,
West Kilbride on some Thursday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00 pm. The opening
session on 6 December deals with The Council in its Historical Context by
Bernard Aspinwall. The next session on 24 January 2013 is A Modern Church
in a Modern World by Dr Theodora Hawksley. A leaflet is available. Pope Benedict
has called on all Catholics to celebrate a Year of Faith from October 2012
to October 2013. It is a time to renew our faith by prayer, by studying our
faith and by renewed charity. It is something we can all do both privately
and publically. Our country has lost its faith and its way. We each must play
our part in renewing faith in God’s goodness and His word. The Year of Faith
Diary is available at the stall. It runs from October 2012 to October 2013
and will be useful. It costs £2.95. To mark the Year of Faith, the Bishops
of Scotland have set up a special website and social media feeds to help us
learn about all that is happening at local, national and international level
and to assist us to grow in faith during this time of grace. The address is
www.YearOfFaithScotland.com
In addition, special services will be provided via Facebook and Twitter, offering
news, points for reflection and ideas on how to mark the Year of Faith. Please
consider following www.facebook.com/yearoffaithscotland
and www.twitter.com/scotyearoffaith.
GALLOWAY LOURDES HOSPITALITÉ - ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS
Any remaining Lourdes Hospitalité subscriptions for this year can be
handed in at stall or given to Harry Sammons. Many thanks for your continued
support of the Diocesan Group.
SCOTTISH CHURCHES STARTER PACKS
Starter Packs is an initiative of the Scottish Churches organised locally
by Women's Aid. When people are allocated a house, they very often don’t have
the basic necessities and many tenancies fail as a result. This initiative
tries to provide a starter pack. There is a leaflet explaining our part in
it.
50/50 CLUB
Myriame Sammons is the one to see if you would like to join. It is an essential
source of income for the parish. Thanks to all who support it so faithfully.
SAINT ANDREW'S CONFERENCE
Cardinal George Pell of Sydney, Bishop Arthur Seratelli of Paterson, New Jersey,
Archbishop Tartaglia of Glasgow, John Haldane of the University of Saint Andrew’s
and Patricia Donnelly of the Mungo Foundation will address the Saint Andrew's
Conference in the City Chambers, Glasgow on Saturday 1 December from 10.00
am to 4.30 pm. Entry is by ticket only. Tickets are available from 0141 225
2605 or SaintAndrewsConference@rcag.org.uk.
SAINT
ANNE'S GUILD
A very big thank you to Saint
Anne's Guild for the donation of £200 towards the painting
of the Church. The Guild is now taking a break until next spring when new
members will be very welcome.
SAINT MATTHEW’S ACADEMY CHRISTMAS FAYRE
Saint Matthew’s Academy is hosting its annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday
24 November from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. There will be a number of stalls selling
lots of Christmas goodies from Christmas cards to stocking fillers, jewellery
to soft toys. Tea, coffee and home baking will also be on sale and there will
be opportunities to take part in our Christmas raffle and tombola. Santa will
be making an appearance and his elves will be there to welcome all! Please
come along and join us on the 24th. All proceeds are going to school funds
and local charities.
PAPAL BLESSINGS
Papal Blessings for a wedding, wedding anniversary or a special birthday can
be ordered at the stall. The price of the parchment and postage has gone up
drastically. We now have to ask £40 for the Blessing. Please leave plenty
of time.
NEW MISSAL
New Missals containing the new Rite are now available at the stall £7.99
or £9.99.
LARGE PRINT MASS BOOKS
Mass Books in Polish are available from the stall. Sunday Readings in most
European languages can be printed from the parish website.
NOVENA CANDLES AND GRAVE CANDLES
There is a nice selection of Novena and Grave Candles available at the stall.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.00 am Mass there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children,
children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary
4. After the 10.00 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the
Parish Centre. At all of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for
our Parish Centre debt.
USED PRINTER CARTRIDGES AND OLD MOBILE PHONES
There is now a large green box in the foyer of the Parish Centre and a small
box at the stall where you can place all old printer cartridges and mobile
phones for us to recycle. Through recycling these we can raise some much needed
funds. Thanks.
ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing
sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores,
Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday
teas.
PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Church in Scotland is concerned with the lives, safety, wholeness
and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
