SUNDAY MASS TIMES

in Saint Peter's are 5.30 pm Vigil and 10.30 am. Sunday
Mass times in other local parishes can be
seen here.

The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?
OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £792.00 - many thanks.
BUILDING
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Building Fund collection amounted to £301.39 - many thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.
READERS
Next weekend's readers are Katrina Pollock at 5.30
pm and Angela Body at 10.30 am.
ALTAR SERVERS
Next weekend's altar servers are Aidan and Calum at 5.30
pm and Group 3 at 10.30 am.
SUNDAY
TEAS
Next Sunday's teas will be served by Fiona Brown's team.
We have some new teams, but we don’t have the consumers. It is true that we
had to cancel a few times over the summer but we are back in business. We
should give it another couple of months to see if custom picks up. Please
support those who make such a big effort at their own expense each week.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. We
have groups for three to five years, primary 1 and 2 and primary 3 which restarts
today, Sunday 7 September. There is a Sacramental Preparation group for primary
4 children which will start in October. All children are welcome. Next week's
helpers are Elaine Shaw and Emma Paterson for the pre-fives, Michelle Noble
and Yvette Thorpe for primaries 1 and 2 and Michelle Morton and Marie O’Brien
for primary 3.

Matt will be on holiday
from 8 to 26 September. Canon Poland (463225) and Father Bell (463461)

will also offer Mass on a Wednesday morning at 10.00 am. There should be morning
Mass in the neighbouring parishes. Please check with them. The Parish Office
is open during office hours.
WORDS OF POPE FRANCIS
Thanks solely to our encounter with God’s love, which blossoms into an enriching
friendship, we are liberated from our narrowness and self-absorption. We become
fully human when we become more than human, when we let God bring us beyond
ourselves in order to attain the fullest truth of our being. Here we find
the source and inspiration of all our efforts at evangelization. For if we
have received the love which restores meaning to our lives, how can we fail
to share that love with others? Pope Francis
PROTECTING VULNERABLE GROUPS UPDATE

EMBRACING CHANGE
There will be a meeting in Saint
Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats on the afternoon of Sunday 14 September.
It is a 'training' meeting for parishioners from the Deanery to take part
in the process the Priests completed earlier in the year. It is to enable
everyone to begin to look at the Church in a new way - to shape our future.
The training session will be delivered by Paul and David who led the open
meeting on 29 June. I have the necessary number of representative from our
parish but everyone who is interested will be kept informed through homilies,
website, printed copies of the notes and so on. The session will be from 2.00
to 6.00 pm with various breaks and tea and coffee provided. The programme
is called Three Horizons - the horizon we can see now, the horizon we should
be able to see and finally, the horizon we would want to see. It is a process
aiming to make us look forward. Our Church will change. Pope Francis is urging
us to rediscover what Jesus wants us to do.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

and well-being of each individual person within God's purpose for everyone.
It seeks to safeguard the welfare of people of all ages who are involved in
whatever capacity with
the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it
is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and
voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
