PRAYER TO THE HOLY FAMILY FOR THE SYNOD ON THE FAMILY
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendour of true love, to you we turn with trust. Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic Churches. Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division. May all who have been hurt or scandalised find ready comfort and healing. Holy Family of Nazareth, may the Synod of Bishops now taking place make us more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God's plan. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, graciously hear our prayer!

POPE FRANCIS TO THOSE TAKING PART IN THE SYNOD
“A general basic condition is this - speak clearly. Let no one say 'This can't be said. They will think this or that about me'. Everything we feel must be said freely. After the last Consistory in February 2014, which focused on the family, a Cardinal wrote to me saying that it was a pity that some cardinals did not have the courage to say certain things out of respect for the Pope, thinking perhaps that the Pope thought differently. This is not good – it is not synodality, because it is necessary to say everything that in the Lord we feel must be said, without human respect, without timidness. And, at the same time, we must listen with humility and accept with an open heart all that our brothers say. With these two attitudes, synodality is achieved”.

EMBRACING THE FUTURE
The updated report Three Horizons With Lay People is on the parish website. Some interesting ideas emerge - some to them are things we can do nothing about at local level, for example, married priests, women priests, bringing priests from elsewhere and so on but some of them are things we could do. The proposal is to bring together those who were able to attend the meeting, invite others and share ideas at a parish level then hold a different kind of meeting in Saint Matthew’s Academy before Christmas with a view to looking at all practical ideas and seeing how to take them forward. Printed copes can be made available or emailed to you - just ask.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
