SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
The Sacrament of Forgiveness is available at any suitable time as well as
from 4.30 pm before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evenings.
FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per
month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful
for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more
from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers
Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the
Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are
available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

MAINTENANCE
FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Maintenance Fund collection amounted to £270.27 - many
thanks.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know
if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY
The
Children's Liturgy is celebrated during the 10.30 am Mass each Sunday. All
children are welcome. Next week's helpers are Teresa Louden and
Emma Paterson for the pre-fives, Michelle Morton and
Sara Lopes for primaries 1 and 2, Mairi Bell and
Elaine Shaw for primary 3 and Michelle Noble and
Krista Ward for primary 4.
OUR NEW BISHOP
The Ordination Mass of Bishop-elect William Nolan will take place on Saturday
14 February in the Grand Hall, 9 Green Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 3BN with an
overflow by television link to the Kay Park Church across the road. Entry
to the event on the day will be by ticket only and we have only ten tickets
distributed between the Grand Hall and the Kay Park Church. The demand for
tickets was greater than the places available. The number 11 bus goes to the
bus station in Kilmarnock directly opposite the Grand Hall. For those travelling
by car, please park at Saint Joseph’s Academy, Grassyards Road, Kilmarnock,
KA3 7SL where a free and efficient shuttle bus service will take you to and
from the Grand Hall. The shuttle buses will run from 9.15 am and the doors
open at 9.30 am. Several passengers per car would further reduce the demand
for parking spaces. The congregation is asked to be seated by 10.30 am. The
service starts at 11.00 pm. All are invited to a buffet reception at Saint
Joseph’s Academy after the event and parish coaches will take people home
from there.
WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SICK AND FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
Sunday 8 February marks World Day of Prayer and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
There will be Mass at 4.00 pm in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Kirkton
Road, Kilmarnock, KA3 2DF. If you wish the Sacrament of the Sick, please inform
a member of the Hospitalité.
HOLY HOUR
Holy Hour with a short introduction and a short concluding prayer will be
held to pray for the new Bishop’s ministry in our diocese in Saint John’s
Church, Stevenston at 3.00 pm on Sunday 8 February. Come and spend a little
time in prayer.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
We will mark Catholic Education Week at Sunday Mass on 14 and 15 February.
The Education Week Mass will be on Wednesday 11 February at 7.00 pm in Saint
Matthew's Academy, Saltcoats. The Mass will have
a particular focus on the Caritas pupils in sixth year.
THANKS FROM MAUREEN
Mrs
Maureen Kelly would like to thank family, friends and parishioners for the
kindness shown to her on the occasion of her nintieth birthday. “I am overwhelmed
by the lovely flowers and gifts received. May the Lord bless you all.”
THANKS FROM COLLETTE'S FAMILY
The family of the late Collette McInnes wish to thank the parishioners of
Saint Peter’s for the Mass cards, sympathy and support received on the death
of Collette. The sum of £350 was raised for Crosshouse Hospital.
CONFIRMATION AND FIRST COMMUNION
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion will be celebrated this
year at the 10.30 am Mass on Sundays 3, 10 and 17 May, as we have done for
many years. The reason for the three Sundays is so that the children are easily
called by name, have enough room for family and friends and are made to feel
as special as they are. Twenty-nine children are on our list, including those
added recently, so about ten children each Sunday would be comfortable. I
will put a list at the stall for you to choose whichever Sunday suits. I am
happy to add another Sunday or arrange any other date you may require. I know
that family work and travel arrangements can be difficult. Just let me know.
There will be a meeting for parents on 19 February at 7.30 pm in the Church.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Following the vote in the House of Commons to allow three person embryos,
Bishop John Keenan, the Bishop of Paisley said "The proposed techniques
fail on a number of ethical grounds which should concern us all: They destroy
human life, since in order to construct a disease free embryo, two healthy
ones will have to be destroyed. The technique is not a treatment, it does
not cure anyone or anything, rather it seeks to remove anyone affected by
certain conditions from the human gene pool. Destroying those who have a particular
disease and presenting it as a cure or as progress is utterly disin-genuous
and completely unethical. No other country in the world has licensed these
procedures. A majority of responses to the Department of Health consultation
opposed the proposal. Experts are divided on the advisability of the techniques
and the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) have suggested
only that the procedures are 'not unsafe. Mitochondrial Donation completely
destroys and distorts the natural process of fertility. It is surprising that
a society which increasingly favours and supports natural and 'environmentally
friendly' products and services should countenance the genetic modification
of human beings. How can we object when scientists genetically modify plants
but not when they do the same with people?".
RACE NIGHT

A Race Night for HCPT - The Pilgrimage Trust will be held on Friday 13 February

THE WHITE MASS
The White Mass for Catholic Health Care Workers and others involved in the
pastoral care of the sick will be celebrat-ed in Saint Andrew’s Metropolitan
Cathedral, Glasgow, on Sunday 15 February at 12 noon. Refreshments will be
available in the Eyre Hall after the Mass. Everyone is welcome to this Mass.
SAINT PETER'S PARENT COUNCIL RACE NIGHT
Saint Peter’s Primary School Parent Council is having a Race Night in the
Parish Centre on Friday 27 March. Full details will be given later.
EMBRACING CHANGE
A
Summary of the Meeting of the Deanery Priests on 18 November 2014 and
a
Summary of the Meeting in Saint Matthew's Academy on 30 November 2014
are now posted on Saint Peter's website. If you would like a copy, please
ask and I will print one for you. The idea was to look at themes produced
by previous meetings and then move on to some practical ideas we might try
to carry out as we look for a way forward. Many ideas were put forward. The
report is now being discussed by the Priests and we hope to move forward with
some of the ideas. The whole purpose of Embracing Change is to move our ideas
forward - to get away from a Church where decisions, plans, ideas and so on,
are made by one person or a few people - to a Church fully involving everyone
who wants to contribute. It calls for a new way of being Church. It might
mean giving up old traditions, ways of doing things, even buildings and embracing
new ideas about what Jesus is asking of us and where the Spirit is leading
us. Pope Francis seems fearless in moving forward, we must be too.
50/50 CLUB
Renewal of memberships is now due at £15 for the year. Renewal reminders

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 6 to 13 July 2015.
Full details are on the poster at the Stall where booking forms are available.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During
the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided
for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme
for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and
buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we
have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.
