FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £591.77 - many thanks.

MAINTENANCE FUND COLLECTION
Last weekend's Maintenance Fund collection amounted to £209.48 - many thanks.

GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

Next weekend's readers are Ronnie Cairns at 5.30 pm and Tom Reid and Sarah Vallance at 10.30 am.

BISHOP NOLAN
Bishop Nolan is visiting the Parish this weekend. He will celebrate Mass on Saturday evening at 5.30 pm and Sunday morning at 10.30 am and join us for tea and coffee after the Sunday Mass. Please welcome our new Bishop on his first visit. The video of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop William, which took place on 14 February, is available on the Diocesan website, on www.GallowayDiocese.org.uk. It is hoped that it will be available on DVD soon.
There are over a hundred photos of the Ordination on Saint Peter's website.

THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT
Lent is a time for prayer, penance and almsgiving in the long-standing tradition of our Church. During Lent, we are making the journey to Easter just as everyone of us is making the journey to Heaven.

PRAYER
Don’t let a day go by without a few moments for God, come to Mass more regularly and encourage your children to say their night and morning prayers. Try to attend Stations of the Cross on a Friday at 9.40 am when possible.

FASTING
Give up something - smoking, alcohol or food you don’t need. The possibilities are endless and the rewards are amazing.

ALMSGIVING
Take a Scottish Catholic International Aid fund (SCIAF) box and constantly give it your spare change. Support a charity at home or abroad and share your time with those who need you.

CANON MATT HOSPITAL
Canon Matt has surgery on his ankle on Monday. Normal service might be disrupted for a few weeks till the crutches are managed. Father Charles will cover one weekend and Canon McSorley the next. Other help has been offered by the priests of the Deanery.

50/50 CLUB
Several 50/50 Club members have still to renew. Please contact the promoter if there is a problem. We have around forty vacant places over the last year. Anyone wishing to join, please contact Mrs Myriame Sammons on 01294 469008. Sincere thanks to all members who paid during January.

SUPPORT FOR THE PARISH
The 50/50 Club has just given the Parish a much-needed £1500. Many thanks to all who organise and support the Club.

SUPPORT FOR THE PARISH CENTRE
The Monday evening 1st Ardrossan Rainbow Unit have raised and donated £200 to the parish Centre and the 5th Ardrossan Saint Peter’s Brownie Group have raised and donated £300. Very many thanks.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL LENTEN APPEAL FOR TOILETRIES
During the weeks of Lent, the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society is once again asking the parishioners of Saint Peter’s to donate both male and female toiletries for use in the Ozanam Centre in Glasgow. The Ozanam Centre assists the homeless, both male and female, so any donations of toiletries would be very gratefully received. A box will be placed in the Church porch for any donations and we hope that we can rely on your usual very generous support. Thank you.

CONFIRMATION AND FIRST COMMUNION
The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion will be celebrated this year at the 10.30 am Mass on Sundays 3, 10 and 17 May, as we have done for many years. The reason for the three Sundays is so that the children are easily called by name, have enough room for family and friends and are made to feel as special as they are. Twenty-nine children are on our list, including those added recently, so about ten children each Sunday would be comfortable. I will put a list at the stall for you to choose whichever Sunday suits. I am happy to add another Sunday or arrange any other date you may require. I know that family work and travel arrangements can be difficult. Just let me know. The meeting for parents has been postponed till after I have my ankle surgery. I'm sorry about this. I will re-arrange before Easter.

TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE
There will be a Taize Prayer Service on Wednesday 4 March at 7.30 pm in Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, South Crescent Road. It is an hour of quiet prayer and music for Lent and thoroughly recommended.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE
A World Day of Prayer service for all the Ardrossan Churches will be held here in Saint Peter’s on Friday 6 March at 2.00 pm. Members of all the Ardrossan Churches are taking part in the service which this year has been written by women from the Bahamas. Everyone is welcome. The service will be followed by tea and coffee.

HCPT GROUP 376 BENEFACTORS' MASS
An invitation is extended to all who have supported the HCPT Group 376 to the Benefactors' Mass at Saint Mary's Church, Saltcoats on Sunday 8 March at 11.30 am. Tea will be served in the hall afterwards. Thank you. Esther Coulter

FAMILY PRIZE BINGO
A Family Bingo supporting Youth for Lourdes will be held in the Parish Centre on Saturday 21 March at 7.00 pm. Tickets cost £1 and a fun night is promised.

SAINT PETER'S PARENT COUNCIL RACE NIGHT
Saint Peter’s Primary School Parent Council is having a Race Night in the Parish Centre on Friday 27 March. Full details will be given later.

EMBRACING CHANGE
A Summary of the Meeting of the Deanery Priests on 18 November 2014 and a Summary of the Meeting in Saint Matthew's Academy on 30 November 2014 are now posted on Saint Peter's website. If you would like a copy, please ask and I will print one for you. The idea was to look at themes produced by previous meetings and then move on to some practical ideas we might try to carry out as we look for a way forward. Many ideas were put forward. The report is now being discussed by the Priests and we hope to move forward with some of the ideas. The whole purpose of Embracing Change is to move our ideas forward - to get away from a Church where decisions, plans, ideas and so on, are made by one person or a few people - to a Church fully involving everyone who wants to contribute. It calls for a new way of being Church. It might mean giving up old traditions, ways of doing things, even buildings and embracing new ideas about what Jesus is asking of us and where the Spirit is leading us. Pope Francis seems fearless in moving forward, we must be too.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Mass? Please know that you are very welcome. During the 10.30 am Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Mass, tea, coffee cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend Masses, we have a second collection for our Parish Centre upkeep.

ADVERTISER SUPPORT
Our advertisers would welcome your support. We are grateful for their continuing sponsorship. We are grateful for the support of Mr and Mrs Sohal, Nisa Stores, Glasgow Street for the weekly donation of tea, coffee and milk for the Sunday teas.

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS - MISSION STATEMENT

with the Church and its organisations. As a Church community, we accept that it is the responsibility of all of us, ordained, professed, paid and voluntary members, to work together to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
