FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3800 per month. Every month, we pay a levy of £1450 to the Diocese. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. Have you thought of using a Bankers Order? It assists us with the safe handling of cash. Banker's Orders for the Parish and Centre amount to an average of £3800 per month. Forms are available. Would you consider remembering Saint Peter's in your will?

OFFERTORY COLLECTION
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £659.64 - many thanks.

RETIRED PRIESTS COLLECTION
Last weekend's collection for Retired Priests amounted to £440.89 - many thanks.

GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church. We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every £1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation. There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.

COLLECTION ENVELOPES
New collection envelopes are now available at the stall. Please let us know if you wish to switch to a standing order. Forms are available.

PARISH RECORDS
Our parish records are badly out of date with people making this their 'parish of choice', moving house et cetera. I would be grateful if you would fill in one of the cards now available at the back of the Church and drop it in to the collection bag. Thanks.

CANON MATT'S LETTER TO THE BISHOP
Dear Bishop William
On 22 September – next Monday – I will celebrate my seventy-fifth birthday and the Code of Canon Law says that I should formally submit my resignation as an active priest of the diocese. I do so now. As I previously indicated to you, I feel able still to do what is expected of me and much of what is asked of me in this parish. As you know, the parish is large and busy and I am kept busy but I feel sure there would be no advantage to me or to the diocese if I were to suggest moving to a smaller parish. Retirement does not appeal to me at the moment, except in moments of frustration and shoulder or knee pain and I went through surgery on my foot to avoid it. However, in the spirit of the Code and my promise of obedience to your predecessor-but-three in 1965, I am at your disposal. If you are content, then I am happy to soldier on for as long as I am able and you consider me useful in the service of this parish and the diocese.
Yours sincerely
Canon Matt McManus
