SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

JUST FOR A LAUGH…
One Sunday a mother shook her son awake, telling him it was time to go to
Church. It had no effect. Ten minutes later she was back. "Get out of
bed immediately and go to Church." "Mother, I don't want to. It's
so boring! Why should I bother?" "For two reasons - you know you
have to go to Church on a Sunday and secondly, you are the Bishop of the Diocese!"
FATHER JOHN'S TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF PRIESTHOOD
On Tuesday 29 May 2018, Father John
Maendeleo, shown below, celebrates twenty-five years of priesthood. Father
John was a priest in residence at Saint Peter's from 7 June 2006 till
he returned to his native Tanzania on 1 February 2008. As well as helping
Canon Matt with his duties in
Ardrossan, Father John assisted
in neighbouring parishes. On his anniversary, the 10.00am Mass will be celebrated
for Father John. There will be
an opportunity to donate to a monetary gift for him. Donations can be handed
in to the Parish Office or made to a collection on the day.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
The special meeting for Eucharistic Ministers and parishioners who take Holy
Communion to family members or neighbours will be on Saturday 2 June 2018,
starting at 1.00pm and finishing before 4.00pm. This special day is a Deanery
event for North Ayrshire and is part of the Embracing Change renewal programme.
Leaflets and the invitation letter are available today in the sacristy. This
is a very important meeting for our Eucharistic Ministers.
POPE FRANCIS MISSION PRAYER FOR MAY

their specific mission, by responding with creativity to the challenges that
face the world today
SPECIAL RELIGIOUS DEVELOPMENT (SPRED) GROUP
SPRED Galloway is holding two charity events to which you are warmly invited.
These are a Ladies' Lunch at the Caledonian Ballroom Trump Turnberry on Saturday
29 September from 12.30 to 4.00pm. There will be a champagne reception followed
by a two-course lunch, coffee and petit fours. A fashion show, auction, raffle
and a selection of stalls will be also available the event. Ticket cost £30

The second event is a Charity Black Tie Ball at the Dumfries Arms Hotel, Cumnock
on Saturday 9 March 2019 from 6.30pm to 12.30am. There will be a drinks reception,
followed by a three-course dinner, coffee and homemade shortbread. There will
be a charity auction and raffle and dancing to live music. Overnight accommodation
with breakfast is available at competitive rates. A table holds eight guests.
Table, corporate and Individual bookings are most welcome. Ticket price is

FUN RUN
Millions of people walk for hours every day in search of food and water. Others
flee across continents to get to safety. The steps you take can help share
their journey. Whether you're old or young, running or walking, with SCIAF's
6k Family Fun Run, you can raise money and show solidarity with people in
need around the world. Your entry fee will go towards our work helping people
in poverty across twenty-seven countries. With plenty of music, stalls and
games this will be a perfect summer's day out for the whole family. Whether
you run, jog or take a stroll around the course. we hope to see you at the
starting line on Saturday 2 June 2018 at Strathclyde Country Park. The fun
starts at 10.00am and the run at 11.00am. The entry fee for adults is £10

PARISH CENTRE STAFF REQUIRED
We are looking for anyone that may be interested in working weekdays, as required,
to assist with funeral teas held in the Parish Centre. For more information,

We are looking for volunteers to help with the weekly cleaning of the Church.

VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Holy Mass? Please know that you are very welcome.
During the 10.30 am Holy Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy
provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental
Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Holy Mass, tea, coffee
cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend
Holy Masses, we have a second collection for Church maintenance.
