THE PRAYERS OF A MUM
Sometimes I sit and look back on my life, I remember the pain and remember
the strife
I didn't know what I was looking for until I heard Jesus knock at my door
He asked to come in, but I kept saying no, I closed the door to my heart and
he said "I'll never go."
"I'll keep on knocking until you ask me in" but I chose to stay
in my life of sin
I
thought that I had the game of life already won, I had money in my pockets
and carried a gun
The life of a gangster is what I had chose, selling drugs to buy new clothes
Driving new cars and going to shows, This is what I thought life was about,
never had a worry, never a doubt,
but mum kept on saying that I was missing the truth, she said "I always
pray for you and the youth."
Material things in the world are not all bad but without God in your life,
your heart will remain sad
I listened really close and I knew deep inside she was right, my happiness
was a front cause I felt lonely and sad at night
My mum said "God can take all your pain away" but I again chose
an alternative way
Alcohol and drugs were my choice this time, all my pain and thoughts were
gone for good, out of my mind
But
then again, that was just for a season, the day came when I really had nothing,
no money, no cars, no home and for what reason
The drugs and the alcohol took over my life and when I didn't have them again
came pain and strife
All this time my mother did pray and life got harder for me each and every
day
I was tired of life at that moment in time, I had nothing except pain in my
heart and a very lost mind
The time had come when I wanted to die but all I could do was just sit there
and cry
All I remember was what my mum kept on saying that, Jesus loved me and she'll
continue praying
I looked at the door to my heart and started debating, could Jesus still be
there, could he really be waiting
I started to cry and fell to my knees, I shouted out loud "God, Help
me please!"
I
opened the door and Jesus was still standing there with fire in his eyes and
a bright blinding glow to his hair
Then he spoke one more time and said to me again "I love you my son,
will you please let me in?"
I asked him into my heart that day and at that moment he took all the pain
in my life away
I fell at his feet and started to cry, "Thank you Lord", I gave
him my gun and he gave me a sword
He said "These are the words I have spoken to you, go forward in life
and may your life be anew
From that day forward I sang a new song , "Thank you my Lord for the
Prayers of a Mum!"
JUST FOR A LAUGH…
One Sunday in an Ayrshire town, a young child was acting up during the morning
Mass. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew
but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up
and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety
of the porch, the little one called loudly to the congregation "Pray
for me! Pray for me!"
HAVE
YOU HEARD OF A PARISHIONER CALLED SOMEONE ELSE?
Our Church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most
valued parishioners, Someone Else. Someone's passing creates a vacancy that
will be difficult to fill. Else has been with us for many years and for every
one of those years, Someone did far more than a normal person's share of the
work. Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach or a meeting to attend,
one name was on everyone's list, - Let Someone Else do it. Whenever leadership
was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well
as results - Someone Else can work with that group. It was common knowledge
that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in our Church. Whenever
there was a financial need, everyone just assumed Someone Else would make
up the difference. Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing
superhuman. Were the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else.
Now Someone Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do. Someone Else
left a wonderful example to follow but who is going to follow it? Who is going
to do the things Someone Else did? When you are asked to help this year, remember
-- we can't depend on Someone Else anymore.

for catering purposes and a leaflet about David Wells will be handed out after
Mass. Thank you!

Duncan will welcome and thank the guests. Ciaran Sinclair will
sing after piping in the haggis pie which will be addressed by Bill Andrew.
Kandy Bar haggis pies with tattie and neeps, followed by trifle, will be served.
A vegetarian option is available on request. Fiona McLachlan will accompany
the singing of Aidan McGrath, Laura McGee, Patrick McLaughlin and Anya Tolland.
The event will be chaired by George McGrattan who will deliver a short Immortal
Memory and sing with Michael McCulloch. Tickets cost £7.50 and can be

number to be catered for as soon as possible.

FINANCES
Bankers Orders for the Parish and Parish Centre amount to £3500 per
month. We are grateful for your generous support in collections. If you can
manage a little more from time to time, it would be a great help. A Standing
Order would make the handling of money so much easier. Have you signed a Gift
Aid form? If you are a taxpayer the Church would get 25p added to every £1
you donate.
COLLECTIONS
Last weekend's Offertory collection amounted to £673.12 and the Maintenance
Fund collection to £287.94 - thanks.
SUNDAY TEAS
Tea and coffee will be served after the 10.30am Mass next Sunday in the Parish
Centre by Sadie's, Marie's and Phyllis's team.
GIFT AID
The Inland Revenue now requires us to use a new style of Gift
Aid form. These are available at the back of the Church and on the parish
website. If you pay tax, please complete the new form and return it to the
box provided. This allows us to provide the additional information required
on the Gift Aid claim. Gift Aid is a vital source of income. All that is needed
is that you pay tax. You simply declare that you give funds to the Church.
We do the rest. Why not sign a form today? We get back an extra 25p for every
£1 you give the Church in your weekly collection or by way of a donation.
There is no need to cancel or renew it. We simply claim in the income we receive.
VISITORS
Are you visiting us for Holy Mass? Please know that you are very welcome.
During the 10.30 am Holy Mass outwith holidays, there is a Children’s Liturgy
provided for preschool children, children in Primaries 1 to 3 and a Sacramental
Programme for children in Primary 4. After the 10.30 am Holy Mass, tea, coffee
cakes and buns are available in the Parish Centre. At both of our weekend
Holy Masses, we have a second collection for Church maintenance.
