On 29 June 2006, the Church of Saint Peter in Chains was honoured by the first ever visit of a Cardinal. His Eminence, Keith Michael Patrick Cardinal O'Brien, Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh was the Principal Celebrant at 6 00 pm Mass. The Cardinal's visit, on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, celebrated the opening of the new Presbytery. After Mass, the clergy and congregation gathered in the Parish Centre for refreshments.
The photograph above shows Father Stephen Sharkey, Father Stephen McGrattan, Father Matt McManus, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, Father John Maendeleo, Father Eamonn Flynn and Monsignor Peter Magee concelebrating Mass. Other photographs of the Cardinal's visit are on the Pictures page.
