ORDINATIONS


There have been six ordinations to the priesthood in the Church of Saint Peter in Chains. Those who became priests are:
   Gerald Muir in 1954
   Henry McFarlane in 1967
   Peter Magee in 1981 - Maurice Taylor's first ordination as Bishop of Galloway
   John Boyce in 1997
   Stephen Cochrane in 1998
  
Stephen McGrattan in 2003 - Maurice Taylor's last ordination as Bishop of Galloway

Five other men born in Ardrossan have been ordained elswhere. They are:
   James McCarroll in Paris, France in 1904
  
Archibald McSparran in Glasgow in 1908
   Robert McCliment in Ware, Hertfordshire, England in 1913
   Patrick Smith in Redcar, Yorkshire, England in 1970
   Gerard Magee in Westgate on Sea, Kent, England in 1986

Three other parishioners have also been ordained. They are:
   Bernard O'Brien, a parishioner in the late 1950s, ordained in Lisbon, Portugal in 1963
   Stephen Motroni, a parishioner from 1957 to 1971, ordained in the Church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Saltcoats in 1983
   Edward Traynor, a parishioner from 1968 to 1973, ordained in 1985
